GA-H67MA-USB3-B3 F8 & El Capitan: Legacy Boot with Clover not working

Status

I wonder if everything would work better if OS X was on a disk formatted MBR. With Clover and Windows both legacy installs on MBR, BIOS set to boot Legacy only, etc.

Also, I'm not sure how you did the post-install. The H67 guide here recommends using the post-install Clover Legacy - Root installer, or gives specific settings if you install from the Clover distribution.

I have installed manually following EC Guid: mainly install in ESP and boot legacy.

regarding your first comment: does it means we cannot used Clover on a GPT disk and Windows/MBR on a second one ? In other words, what Chimera was handling

Moreover, when you say "BIOS set to boot Legacy only", you mean in the motherboard BIOS settings ? This is a Legacy BIOS only mobo, there no UEFI Bios.

Sorry for late answer

Bios F8 With default settings and following changes:
Quick boot disabled
Full screen logo show disabled
PCH SATA control mode AHCI
HPET support enabled
HPET mode 64-bit mode

I select the boot disk or usb with f12 key at boot Time.

Hope It helps

Hi all,

Maybe a little late, but I had the same problem.
Chimera well recognized gpt and mbr to boot. Not so with clover.
I use my computer with osx, win10 and linux.
The solution for me was to install each OS on a different HD, with the other HD disconnected. I installed all systems with gpt.
I use the HD with osx as the first HD connected to MB and I use clover as bootloader for other OS's.

Everything works fine.

Hi all,

After a bunch of digging and trial and error, I finally have a running GA-H67MA-USB3-B3 F8 with El Capitan 10.11.6.

If you go down this path, make sure you disable the USB3 in the BIOS as it'll install fine and you can reboot and install multibeast (Clover in legacy mode) via the USB drive but when you go to native boot from the internal disk it'll hang configuring the pci devices.

Everything on the net pointed me at that being a graphics problem which I beat my head on for a few days but I finally found the post that said that this mother board's USB3 manufacturer is not (and likely never will be) supported. Once I disabled the USB3 then it booted from the internal drive like a champ.

In addition, the sound will need the ALC patch applied (see the known issues list for El Capitan and just do what it says). Once I did that then the sound worked like a champ.

At this point, the only thing not working is the USB3 on board but I just ordered a PCIe card USB 3.0 card for $18USD on Amazon that is supposed to be natively supported in El Capitan so that should fix that issue.

Hi Denismac,
I'm quite stuck with the exact same mobo and no sound. Everything else works flawlessly, so i'm hopping you could help me step by step to get the sound working.
Would really appreciate.
Possible?
Thanks a lot,
Romain

@romainky

Have you tried using MultiBeast and select only ALC Codec to match your board, build and install, reboot?

@Going Bald
Yes i did but not working : at the end, MB says that there was an error during process
Told myself it's due to the fact i installed using clover-legacy-root to install 10.11

What do u think about?

Again, thanks a lot guys

@romainky
Should not make a difference. Check the Clover config.plist for audio patches.
Check System->Preferences->Sound for setting to be "Internal Speakers"
Do any output devices show up in System->Preferences->Sound?

I'll try sorry didnt see your message on saturday.
Should i use cloverconfigurator to check the audio patches? Or on the internet?
I'm not use at all with modifing config.plist manually.
But i can try if you tell me how ;-)
If you got the time otherwise i'll check no worries
Thanks
