[SOLVED] Can't update from Yosemite to El Capitan

So my guess is right, for X79, need to edit DSDT to make USB 2.0 works.
In my case, R4G's USB is EUSB and USBE.
EUSB is 2.0, and I'm not sure about USBE, maybe it's ASMedia USB 3.0

So, need to change EUSB to another sign, depends on which Mac machine type you using in SMBIOS.
For example, I'm using MacPro3,1 , so I need to change USB sign from EUSB to EHCI.

That is, after replace codes, compile, and save to CLOVER then reboot, now USB work back again.
And this edition need to use for USB installation stick, or installer can't recognize ur USB during boot up.
The edited DSDT has uploaded below #10.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Recently, I'm using Yosemite 10.10.5, but I got a problem tried to update to El Capitan.

First, I updated CLOVER to r3280 and put kexts (FakeSMC & VoodooTSC) to 10.11 directory
and edit my config.plist to avoid SIP.
Then I download 10.11 install app and install it.
Typically, it will show OS X install 10.11 on CLOVER after reboot from install app.
But I got nothing! Even I selected my original OS and it still back 10.10.5.

Then I tried to update from USB stick, I tried about 3 sticks to boot into installation.
But I always stuck here. After this about 10~15 sec, I got "Still waiting root device" and "restrict" sign.

And it didn't work even I tried cpus=1 or edit RtVariables.

Here is my config.plist, I don't know how to solve it right now.
I'll appreciate if someone can help.

Waiting on root device, and prohibited symbol often represent not able to find/load from the USB. Try different ports and if you're using a USB 3.0 drive, try USB 2.0..

On a quick review of your config.plist, you have CsrActiveConfig set to 0xff. This needs to be switched to either, 0x3 for partial disable of SIP or 0x67 for full disable.

I tried USB2 stick and every ports, but didn't work.
At beginning, I'm using 0x67 of CsrActiveConfig, but I got same result.

If you boot from the USB stick, then what is the text of the Clover menu entry that you select to get to the screen shot above? (I'm confused about whether it's trying to start up the USB drive or the Yosemite drive when it gets to that state.)

I'm not sure this question means, but here is my boot options during selected OS X install on USB stick

I got issue when I tried launch OS X Install form here.

Also, here is my origin Yosemite. And it works normally.

EDIT:

I tried remove all disks and boot USB stick only, but still no go.

I have to agree with N3oNLit3 that it sounds like a USB problem -- like it boots from Clover OK but then once OS X gets going it can't find the USB stick to mount to run the installer. I got that on one machine and switched USB ports and it went away. You said switching ports didn't work... Do you have an external USB hub you can try?

Do you want to check USB settings in BIOS? XHCI Mode = Smart Auto, EHCI Handoff and XHCI Handoff = enabled, etc.?

Yes, I'll check it later, even ASMedia is not work anymore.
I'm agree this, too. Because USB stick didn't get any action after CLOVER.

Also, I'm not using case, my computer built on bare platform, but I'll try to find external USB transfer cable.

Checking the BIOS settings, the EHCI Hand-off is disabled.
So I switched to enabled and try again, but still won't work :(

Also I tried remove my original DSDT, still a same.
May there is a DSDT problem? I searched Google and found that it got USB 2.0 issues on 10.11

Here is my DSDT, I don't know how to edit it because I only found EUSB & USBE, I didn't find out any words about EHCI or EHC1.

OK...finally I successfully update to 10.11, in very strange case.....

I tried to re-run os x install and still with no luck, so I tried to boot from USB stick with ASMedia disabled.
And the CLOVER booted from USB recognized the install EFI files in Mac OS SSD.
So I ran it and get successful updated.

But now I got another problem, and this may a reason that I can't boot USB installation.
Because when entered OS X, I lost whole USB control, included keyboard & mouse.

So the result is, X79 users MUST ADDED PATCHED DSDT.
I'll try to work around that, because X79 DSDT is little different in USB.
Like EHC1 may a EUSB, EHC2 may USBE. I'm not sure about that.

OK... for two days work, now my system back online again.
Here is a DSDT for my R4G that fix USB issue.
