ImmortalJman,

Mind sharing your SSDT ? Are you using Sandy Bridge or Ivy Bridge CPUs ?

I have dual 2650 (Sandy, 8 cores each) and the SSDT generation is problematic, I can't get the lower states under Yosemite (I have them perfectly working under Mavericks). Using the SSDT working under Mavericks creates a KP... so I created a new one, but it either works (only higher states) or doesn't work at all (I have to do some editing inside the SSDT).

P.S : Are you using the rollbacks ? and the patched AICPM ?

I'm at school right now on my MacBook Pro so I'll have to grab that when I can.

To answer your questions.

I'm using Ivy Bridge. No, I'm not using rollbacks but I might need to. And I don't remember using the patched AICPM.

I can get Geekbench to use all cores but when I use Final Cut Pro to export video it doesn't and it's obvious that it's not doing very well using the video cards for export. I still need to test using Compressor and Adobe Media Encoder. So, while it appears that my SSDT works, I have noticed this error. Do you get this?

ssdt.jpg

In essence it's not finding the directory and doing what it's supposed to, however it does create the ssdt file and copies it into the Extra folder.

Here is my ssdt. Upon further comparison using my MacBook Pro and my hackintosh I actually get the same results of CPU usage when encoding the video to the exact same encoder which is good and bad at the same time. Good because it means that my hackintosh is working like it's supposed to but bad in that this means that FCPX is highly inefficient in using CPU cycles for encoding. I'm aware that it's supposed to use GPU's more to speed up the encoding but it looks as if it only uses the GPU's now which if they're using OpenGL/OpenCL to do it significantly slows down my encode. So, I tried Adobe Encore and it seems to do better because I have NVIDIA GPU's in both and so it takes advantage of that, but I can't compare apples to apples because the same codec isn't available to test it; or at least I haven't change it to match yet. Anyhow, still frustrating that this is my main editing machine and tons of CPU cycles are wasted for the encode. However, it powers through effects and all the other rendering for my clips while I'm working on it and that is something to be happy about.

Still looking for clarification on that error though for generating the ssdt file.

Hey, I want to try a build with this motherboard and El Capitan: has anyone tried to update yet?

Struggling with getting everything to run with an Asus Z9PA-D8 motherboard like the Z9PE-D8 listed in this thread.

I have made a similar system using the Asus Z9PA-D8, dual Xeon E-2680, 64GB Ram and GTX 970 video card.

I have been able to get the system up and running with the basic unibeast installation method but so far I am unable to find any Kext files that will enable the functionality of the motherboard - namely the speed of the processors, identifying the ram, USB 3 etc. I have been able to get the onboard ethernet to work but that is about it. Using other kexts results in system failure.

Do you have any suggestions or kext files that I should track down to make this system work better?

Thank you in advance!

I've tried updating to Yosemite using Unibeast and no matter what I do I can't get to the installer. So, I'm going to try Capitan soon and see what happens although I'm not holding my breath.

Thank you! I'll wait for your updates!

hi, i was searching how can i change the SysDef in clover. maybe Chameleon Wizard?

Update: i have all ready install Yosemite with success using Clover and change the system definition to MacPro5,1.

Problems:
-i can't get my gtx 970 g1 work. I'm using cuda drivers, web drivers and all ready try using 5slot. With the nvda_drv=1.

Thanks!

How did you configure your USB for boot into clover. Did you use UEFI option or legacy boot option? I'm having issues with booting using a clover made usb.

So, I used the new Unibeast to create my Clover USB and I couldn't get it to boot to the clover menu at all using the UEFI option. I looked into my BIOS to verify some settings and noticed these things. First off I use a hacked BIOS to enable the ssdt file that controls the speedstepping; which works wonderfully right now. I believe I'm using 5304. I didn't write it down. After noting that I saw that the UEFI option isn't even in the boot menu anymore like it shows in my manual for the MB, which is probably why I can't do the UEFI option.

So, that being said I changed my Unibeast so that it used the Legacy boot option. This finally let me boot from the USB and into the Clover menu.

Now, the frustrating part. I still get stuck at the PCI configuration begin part. I've use a number of the flags for Clover and still get the same results. So, this is likely due to something with the BIOS revision I'm using. In order for me to change this and even test that theory, I would need to use my other BIOS chip and go from there. I don't have time just yet to do that, but hopefully soon.

I would really like to use Clover because some of the benefits are huge compared to Chameleon; particularly the fact that it has a built in recovery partition.

For any of you using Clover:

What BIOS revision are you using?
Did you hack the BIOS for the SSDT file?
Are you using the UEFI option for setting up your Clover bootloader?

Update: Yeah I was way off, I'm using 5601 for my BIOS revision.
