Dear all,

I recently swapped my old 770 for a 970 as the 770 had failed. When I had the 770 I was on 10.10.5 and have never installed Nvidias web drivers. For this card I installed the latest drivers for 10.10.5 and upon rebooting I have not been able to boot into OS X and get a black screen just after a boot screen with the TonyMac apple instead of the normal Apple which i thought was strange.

Could someone advise me on what to do, I have tried using NV_Disable=1 but I am still unable to boot into the OS. The system worked fully with the 770 in it.

Thanks in advance

First, I believe boot flags are case sensitive so it should be nv_disable=1.

Second, what system profile are you running?

I tried the flat as nv_disable=1 to no success, I cannot boot into the system even safe mode. From memory I believe my system profile is MacPro 3.1. Though I cannot check properly. How can I boot into the system?

When booting without nv_disable=1 are you booting with nvda_drv=1?

I just type the kernel flags -v nv_disable=1.

I didn't edit anything under the boot.plist just straight after the nvidia installation and rebooted, I switched to web drivers in the control panel and since then I have not been able to boot. It stops at "PCI configuration begin"

Unless nvda_drv=1 has been saved in nvram you will need to add it to your boot flags. So use:

-v nvda_drv=1 kext-dev-mode=1

Using those flags it still stops at "PCI configuration begin" and then it goes to a black screen.

try adding -f to those flags

Still hanging at the same "PCI configuration begin" followed by a black screen. I have also noticed though that since installing my bootloader no longer has a countdown or 1080p, instead it is fixed on and low resolution. Could that be anything to do with it?

What connection are you using to your monitor?
