isn't this an ALC1150 board, though?

Yes, im just dyslexic from being awake the past 2 days. The ALC1150 is what I meant.

Herb - yeah they are working fine. Everything on the system is functional and now I will just be working on integrating tweaks to speed up and add subtle features to the system. There are different mods that can be done on kexts for adding features like temperature and speed control on the GPU and system.

hi. can you please post your bios overclock settings?

rbbunmc,

So cool! So tempting to jump in.

Am I correct in assuming it's smarter to go with the 3.1 motherboard?

Yep I will be doing this today or tomorrow. I will write them up when I am back home tonight. Keep an eye out tonight or tomorrow morning. :D

@herb - its preference and price, but for $50-$100 go 3.1. Honestly the technology is useless though with the new standard shifting to usb type-c and thunderbolt 3 in both pc and osx. Some of the z170 boards already implemented them in. USB3.1 in its current form isn't likely to materialize in my opinion.

I shall. I am testing an all in one EFI that includes the whole build so that you can clean out all of the garbage kexts. Can you send me your complete pc setup?

x99-E WS
ThunderboltEX II
Geforce 980
32gb of ECC RAM
Xeon 8 core processor
Blackmagic Decklink 4k Extreme (This causes memory error on clover boot and I need to install the special "test" kext someone linked to earlier in this thread to boot with this installed - only in clover)
Samsung 840 as system drive, with another one for Windows

Pretty much the same as you, with exception of the Xeon, ECC RAM (which I can't get to work!), and decklink card.

Great. I'll have you an updated EFI in the late morning my time (Albuquerque, NM). I'll see what I can do on the ECC. I am trying to finish up on a PDF version of complete install with pictures, so that people understand what is in the EFI when they make changes. There is a lot going on with it.

The OC settings will be included in that guide as well.

Forgive my ignorance, but we should be able to add Thunderbolt 3 when arrives in the form of an EXIII, or similar, right?

@r2tincan - try this and update me right away on if it works so I can make it available for others. Anybody else wanting to test this in the meantime go ahead. You are testing macpro 6.1 bios and audio. Dont' do any restarts until you have completed all steps. There are 3 kexts necessary that are in the "other" folder. The EFI folder is included as well and contains an SSDT.aml file in clover/ACP/patched leave it there.

"Other" Folder contains 3 files

AppleGraphicsControl.kext <-edited kext to enable macpro 6.1
AppleHDA.kext <- patched for ALC1150
HDAEnabler1.kext <- patched for HDAudio

Step 1: into your S/L/E folder and delete those three kexts if they are present.

Step 2: In KextWizard click on Installation tab Browse for the 3 kexts in the "other" folder and select them. Destination = System/Library/Extensions Target disk = Yosemite and hit install

Step 3: Delete your old EFI folder and Paste in my EFI folder (if there is any system specific changes you need for your xeon in the new EFI folder that you had in the old EFI folder or config.plist do them now)

Step 4: Enable trim (speeds up drives and gives them full support in osx for native recognition) <- note will slow down boot time a couple of seconds.

In command

PHP:
sudo trimforce enable

Step 5: In KextWizard under maintenance tab repair your permissions and rebuild cache.

Step 6: Restart your computer and test sound
