The ioreg shows you're still using 0x0d220003. No expectation for backlight control to work with desktop ig-platform-id.

You're getting the default 0x0d220003 for ig-platform-id because you've specified it incorrectly in config.plist. Your setting lacks the 0x prefix (must be 0xa260006, not 0a260006).

Note that you have SortedOrder spelled incorrectly in your config.plist (it is SortedOrder, not SortOrder). As a result your SSDTs may load in an unexpected order.

In this game, details matter.

I am in total agreement that details matter; however, when I add the x in the platform id, it boots to a black screen. And I didn't add the "SortOrder" key, I'm using the Clover Configurator. When I change the key to "SortedOrder", the list no longer appears in the dialogue box. Does that mean the Configurator is messed up? Thanks again.

Boot verbose, show photo. Post EFI/Clover folder.

Clover Configurator has bugs. But that particular bug is fixed in the most recent release (last I checked).

Oh, I see. I didn't realize that there were formatting bugs in the Configurator. I changed the sort order key and added the platform-id exactly as you have it written manually. It boots to an initial black screen for some reason, but if I press the power button and hit a key on the keyboard the screen comes up. It was garbled the first time until I added the 9mb cursor patch. The brightness slider appeared as you said it would! Any idea why it would have a black screen initially and then work? I'm posting my IOreg in case there's something obvious I'm still doing incorrectly.

Maybe you have a zero value for acpi-backlight-level stored in NVRAM.
Use the debug version of ACPIBacklight.kext and check startup log in system.log.

But since you didn't mention using your brightness keys, maybe it is something else...

Is the custom EDID extracted from your own computer?

Sometimes, MacBookPro11,1 is a better choice.

Both brightness keys work but only lower the brightness, I'll look into that once I fix the boot. I'm installing the Debug version right now and will report back. The EDID was indeed extracted from my computer via a Windows utility. I'll try the MacBook one and see if that changes anything. Many thanks, it's all coming together and I'm learning quite a bit as well.

** - Forgot to mention that sleep now works as well.

That's not "working"... mapping brightness keys is covered in the backlight guide.

I'm attaching a section of the bootlog. These are the only mentions of ACPIBacklight that I can find. It does seem to try to set the brightness level, but it's all greek to me.

I'm going to try to track the EDID and fix the keys.

Brightness is not being set to zero by ACPIBacklight (that's all I was looking for). Your black screen is some other issue.

Have you tried different ig-platform-id values? (mobile ones).
