I don't know what I'm doing wrong however, the latest driver does not work with my GTX 960 card if I use Mac Pro 6,1 definition. I had to downgrade to Mac Pro 3,1. Just to clarify, as soon as I replace the Mac Pro 6,1 definition in Clover at boot time with Mac Pro 3,1, the computer boots up correctly and the web driver recognizes the card properly. Mac Pro 6,1 leads to black screen but able to connect via Screen Sharing. I had no issues using Mac Pro 6,1 definition under 10.10.2. Anyone else having the issue?
1) Try to watch in S/L/E/AppleGraphicsControl.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleGraphicsDevicePolicy.kext/Contents/Info.plist in IOKitPersonalities/AppleGraphicsDevicePolicy/Config1 (or Config2)/GFX1 --> unload=YES and then watch in IOKitPersonalities/AppleGraphicsDevicePolicy/ConfigMap/Mac-F60DEB81FF30ACF6=Config1 (or 2). Set in ConfigMap/Mac-F60DEB81FF30ACF6 to none (Mac-F60DEB81FF30ACF6=none) as in other Mac.

OR

2) set FakeID for your card number of your card (watch in clover's bootlog )

OR

3) Set your Mac to another than MacPro6_1

Thanks a lot! I'll try 1 and 2 (3 already works - running as 3,1 as we speak; 5,1 generates a kernel panic). Do you happen to know why that is? Is it due to web driver not supporting Mac Pro 6,1?

EDIT: Thx a million, my dear friend! Option 1 worked like a charm. Much appreciated! :)

Anyone ever have a problem like this picture? If so and you resolved it how? Install_NVIDIA_Web_Driver_346_01_02f02.jpg trying to get the drivers installed and they are failing out at the validating packages portion of the install.

its been posted before. On the 960 and 970 using Mac Pro 6,1 does NOT work after 10.10

However there are some people who believe this isn't the case, but with my own system it was just like you describe.

Additionally if you break open the latest driver packages, it even specifies that the driver will not start if the definition is not set as 3,1 4,1 or 5,1.

Cheers

Not true. As I mentioned previously, 10.10.2 worked perfectly fine with 960 and Mac Pro 6,1 definition. Only starting with 10.10.3 it stopped working. At least for me. In any case, I am back using 6,1 on 10.10.3 after modifying the kext, as mentioned above. Having said that, I don't know if having Xeon CPU instead of i7 makes any difference.

So you have to install the Nvidia web drivers release before installing the 10.10.3 supplemental update? Confused on correct order to take..

Thanks

I installed the update and then applied the driver. I'm not sure if you could install it in the reverse order (prob doesn't matter since this is not a point release updated driver). I do know that I had problems viewing my FCPX (version 10.2) timeline with uncompressed 10 bit 4k30 footage in 10.10.3 before graphics update w/ old web driver but now it is smooth as butter again for what its worth (my plug for applying the update). I'm really pleased with my current hackintosh state as the 970 now supports 4k30Hz so I am able to view my footage in full res on 40" TV and then edit on 1440p D-DVI Korean monitor. I'm sure this current setup (Ivy i5 GA board 16 GB recommended build with GTX 970, 2 TB SSD arrays with 12 TB ext archive) would have cost me 3x at Apple markup.
