Greetings,

I just put together an Apple branded bluetooth module. I used A1114 module and connected it to UBS header on the motherboard. Bought one of those 5v to 3.3v converters. Basically i followed the guides that are available online.

Problem is that when i start the machine and get into the OS the system doesn't seem to see any bluetooth device under bluetooth tab in system profile.

I can confirm that the module is getting the 3.3v (checked with multimeter)

The usb header is working for sure, i connected an usb hub to it and it worked no problem.

I dual booth Windows 7 and it does see that there is some kind of device connected, but unfortunately doesn't install any drivers and atm the device is marked as "unknown device".

I am using Gigabyte Z68X-UD4 mobo and the latest DSDT.

If Windows didn't react to the module I would've been sure that the module was DOA, but since thats not the case i am really at lost why Lions system profile doesn't show any bluetooth device.

Anyone else had similar experience or has any tips?

Thanks in advance.

Btw, awesome site and awesome community. One can learn so much around here.

Did you look under USB in profiler? You do have it connected to a USB port.....

First i would like to thank you for the tip.

I have found the problem. It turned out that the USB+ and USB- (yellow and green) cables were mixed up on my module. I assumed i was missing something, never thought my module was the offender.

So the correct way to connect everything was

USB ------------------ BT-module
RED ------------------ RED
Black ----------------- BLACK
Green ---------------- Green (instead of white)
Yellow ---------------- White (instead of green)

It might be useful for others to know that these modules can come with mixed up cables.

thanx lady_gaga, I built my BT with a apple module months ago and when it didn't work I assumed it was broke and went on to use a dongle with barely adequate results. After reading your post I tried switching the two wires, mine are green and yellow, and it works awesome. thanx again:headbang:
