I upgraded from Mountain Lion to Yosemite and am still unravelling some problems. I'm currently able to reach Yosemite only when I boot using "-f". Apparently this ignores the Kernel Cache which makes for a slower start up.

Photos of my results when booting using only "-v" are below:

I discovered another thread that suggested this might be related to an incorrectly set up "Optic UNIT" - what exactly is that? Suggestions on where to from here?

This shouldn't be a problem, as the error appears on real Macs as well, so your issue is probably about something not loading in the kernel cache if you're able to boot with -f. Have you tried rebuilding kernel caches?

Have you tried rebuilding kernel caches?

I have downloaded the Kext Wizard app and will try that (to Repair permissions and Rebuild cache).

*Crosses fingers*

Rebuilding the cache did not work. I received the same "BUG in process subhelperd..." and was not able to boot up the OS when I booted with only "-v" as a boot flag.

I now have 4 lines right before "BUG in process subhelperd" that read something like:

"Sound assertion in AppleHDACodecGeneric at line..."

when before I had only 1 line.

Working, reliable sound has become such a pain in the ass post Yosemite install :S

Deleted System/Library/AppleTyMCEDriver.kext as per http://www.tonymacx86.com/general-h...odecgeneric-line-kernal-panic-stuff-help.html

But no help. Still seeing sound assertion errors. Down to 3 errors however.

My sound set up is as follows:

Motherboard: GA-Z77N-WIFI (with Realtek ALC892 codec)

MultiBeast configuration:

Quick Start > DSDT-free
Drivers > Audio > Realtek ALCxxx > ALC892
Drivers > Audio > Realtek ALCxxx > Optional HDAEnabler > Audio ID: 1

Sound is currently working perfectly. Except for the boot up errors.

Could I have another kext installed that is causing the errors? Other than
AppleTyMCEDriver.kext (which I deleted)?
