Hey guys!

I'm going to build my first hackintosh so all tips are welcomed;
I'm looking for a very stable hackintosh which it's easy to configure; i also want to do a dual boot for playing game on windows, specs are :

Intel Core i7-4790k
Gigabyte GA-Z97-D3H
EVGA Geforce GTX 750 TI SC 2go
DDR3 Kingston HyperX Fury Red, 2 x 8 GO, 1866 MHz, CAS 10
Sandisk SSD 128
WD Blue 1to

I check the BUYER'S GUIDE and haven't see a lot of graphics card, so tell me if i can find better for ~150€

Thanks in advance and sorry for my rough english ;)

Hi Malouksa!
Works perfect! My machine is basically the same:
Intel Core i7-4790k
Gigabyte GA-Z97-D3H
Asus GTX 660 2gb
DDR3 Kingston HyperX Fury Red, 4 x 8 GO, 1866 MHz, CAS 10
Samsung SSD 256
2x Seagate 1T.
Seidon 240M (Use watercollers, its fantastic!)

I install Mavericks and Yosimete with successfully, but i prefer use Maverick (it's my choice for now).

I recomended use the BIOS (I used the F8 update):

Load Optimised Defaults

IMPORTANT:
In MIT>Advanced Frequency Settings> Intel Turbo Boost Technology = DISABLE (don worry, you processor will work at 4.0~4,4)
MIT>Advanced Memory Settings> Memory Overclock Profiles = DISABLE (dont worry your memories will work at 1867MHz)
MIT>Advanced Memory Settings> Memory Enhancement Settings = Enhance Stability

IN BIOS FEATURE
USB Support = Full Inicialize
Limit CPUID Maximum = DISABLE
VTd DISABLE

PERIPHERICALS

XHCI Mode ENABLE
INTEL Rapid Start Technology = DISABLE
Intel Processor Graphic DISABLE (if you have trouble when install with Nvida Board connected, leave enable and remove NVIDiA)
XHCI HandOff Enabled
EHCI HandOff Enabled
SATA Configuration AHCI
SUPER IO Configuraton = DISABLE

The settings above works for install Mavericks and Yosimite.

For mavericks, I suggest:

MultiBeast Mavericks6.5.0 Configuration
Quick Start > EasyBeast
Drivers > Audio > Realtek ALCxxx > ALC1150
Drivers > Audio > Realtek ALCxxx > Intel 9 Series Motherboard Support
Drivers > Disk > 3rd Party SATA
Drivers > Misc > ElliottForceLegacy TRC
Drivers > Misc > EvOreboot
Drivers > Misc > FakeSMC v6.9.1315
Drivers > Misc > FakeSMC v6.9.1315 Plugins
Drivers > Misc > FakeSMC v6.9.1315 HWMonitor Application
Drivers > Misc > USB 3.0 Universal
Drivers > Intel > AppleIntelE1000e v3.1.0
Drivers > System > AppleRTC Patch for CMOS Reset
Bootloaders > Chimera v3.0.1
Customize > Boot Options > Basic Boot Options
Customize > Boot Options > Generate CPU States
Customize > System Definitions > Mac Pro > Mac Pro 3,1
Customize > Themes > tonymacx86 Black

After install, I change my org.chameleon.Boot.plist is (I dont have random freezes anymore) to:

<key>EthernetBuiltIn</key>
<string>Yes</string>
<key>GenerateCStates</key>
<string>Yes</string>
<key>GeneratePStates</key>
<string>Yes</string>
<key>Kernel Flags</key>
<string>-v -f</string>
<key>Legacy Logo</key>
<string>Yes</string>
<key>SMBIOS</key>
<string>Extra/smbios.plist</string>
<key>Timeout</key>
<string>3</string>
<key>USBBusFix</key>
<string>Yes</string>
<key>UseKernelCache</key>
<string>Yes</string>

I Dont know id you need install NVIDIA Drivers (I dont know if your Videocard works OBB).

After install Nvidia Drivers (or not, if you dont need) use the Chameleon Wizard.app and change the smbios to Imac 14,2.

I hope help you!

Best regards

Thank you very much zangadao for your answer !!

So i'm going to order this build, for the power supplie 650W is enough or not?
Do you have some trouble about audio, graphics or what ever, or it works perfectly? And how about iMessage?

Thanks in advance ;)

Well, 650w sounds good! No problem for this build.
I dont have problems with audio, but to be honest I use a 5.1 usb adapter (I bought in amazon, one cheppers http://www.amazon.com/External-Surround-Powered-Notebook-Adapter/dp/B008AH9U6K/ref=sr_1_38?ie=UTF8&qid=1437947764&sr=8-38&keywords=usb+5.1+channel+surround+sound+speaker+adapter ) and I have a Logitech C270 webcam, and both works OBB (webcam microphone works in facetime and skype too). I dont use Imessage actually, maybe someone can help with it.

So, i dont use wifi adapter too, because for video render in multiple machines, doest a good idea :) (but has a boards in buyers guide works like native airport).

If you decide to buy a USB adapter, has a little and easy trick to configure, nothing special, i told if you need.

This is my 3rd customac, and I work with all three without any problems. Only limitation is this MOBO doesnt have a Thunderbolt, but for me USB sounds good for backups and media transfers.

If you need a HDMI sound output, read this: http://www.tonymacx86.com/hdmi-audio/138449-hdmi-audio-kext-gold.html. Just install the kext and bingo!

Remember, if you will work with images (photo ou movie edit) buy a good monitor and if is possible, a Display Calibration Device (I have one from datacolor). And i think to use a 256 SSD, for Cache of after effects (40GB) and others). I dont use FCX... for me FCP 7 is the king (and premiere too!).

May the force be with you

I just happened to find this thread last night... talk about luck!

I'm getting ready to put together my first Hackintosh in the very near future. As it just so happens, I'm using the same mobo, processor, and RAM as you and Malouska. Since I've read that the newest web drivers are working well with the ASUS Strix GTX 960, I've chosen that for my rig (but if I was going to try any other GPU, it probably would have been the GTX 750 Ti SC from the buyers guide).

Right now I'm planning to install Yosemite 10.10.4, but from reading your post, it sounds like I could try Mavericks without too much trouble.

Thanks for providing such a detailed guide... I will keep it handy as I attempt to get my Hackintosh up and running.

Best of luck to Malouska on his build!

Hi Fender!

I dont know if you can install with GTX 960 installed (I belive you can't, read in some post about), but you can install with Intel GPU and after, install Nvidia Drivers and put GTX960 to work. Remember, to install Nvidia Drivers, you can you the mac pro 3,1 smbios (after this you can change. See the first post here: http://www.tonymacx86.com/graphics/161256-solving-nvidia-driver-install-problems.html)

To Nvidia, read the posts http://www.tonymacx86.com/graphics/168405-gtx-970-problems-10-10-4-a.html and http://www.tonymacx86.com/graphics/167243-gtx-970-works-10-10-4-346-01-03b01-drivers.html maybe can help you. I know you will install a mavericks, but the trick is the same...

I delay to buy a GTX 960 until november. sorry, until there I can help you more, but if you has a fully sucessfull, tell me!

Hey zangadao,

Thanks for including the links in your post. Installing the GTX 960 and drivers after I get my build up and running is exactly what I plan to do. It was actually http://www.tonymacx86.com/desktop-c...ix-gtx-960-ready-our-hackintosh-builds-3.html that inspired me to go with the GTX 960, but it’s also good to see how others were dealing with any problems before the latest Nvidia drivers were released. I already have the Nvidia drivers set aside on the USB drive that I installed Unibeast.

I decided to start out with a Yosemite build, seeing as how that is what my shopping list was based around. Once I get that up and running, I might tinker with a Mavericks partition (or maybe even Mountain Lion, if that's doable) and see what I could do with that.

I'm really looking forward to putting all of this together. Once my case fans arrive in the mail, I'll be ready to go!
