What do I want with my new system?
I want to use it as a studio PC for high-end music production and while i'm at it I want to be able to play the newest games on maximum settings on it.

What will it cost?
Max: ~€1300

Where there be components I want to use from older systems?
- Seagate Desktop HDD 1TB - 3.5inch
This is the HDD from my old windows computer. I want to use this as my windows disk on the hackintosh later.

What do I have in mind for the Hackintosh?

1 Intel Core i7-4790K Boxed € 302,95
1 Gigabyte GA-Z97X-UD5H € 159,90
1 EVGA GeForce GTX 760 2GB Superclocked € 217,50
3 Crucial Ballistix Tactical BLT2C4G3D1608ET3LX0CEU € 194,85
1 Corsair RM650 € 97,95
1 Samsung 840 EVO 250GB € 109,04
+_______
Total € 1.082,19

For this build I mostly looked at the Mac Pro in the Buyer's Guide

CPU:
Seems well enough to do the job?

Motherboard:
Cheaper than the UDH7 but other than thunderbolt I see no difference.

GPU:
Good enough to play the newest games on maximum settings?

RAM:
-

Power:
-

SSD:
Seems to be the best choice for a hackintosh. BUT I read HERE that it might not be the best choice. Any alternatives?

Apart from these essentials I have a few more questions about some extra's:
- I have a firewire soundcourd so I will need a firewire card to connect it to. As I read here the SD-PEX30009 might be a good choice but the problem is I can't get it anywhere in my country (Netherlands). So any alternatives for this that might work? What's all this fuzz about firewire cards and UEFI anyways?

- Should I consider extra (water) cooling?

- As I said before I want to use my old windows HDD for the hackintosh. Is this possible and will this cause any troubles?

- I have an ethernet kable in my room. This should just work with the motherboard right?

- Does the case matter? Any suggestions for a nice cheap one?

Thanks for reading!

I have a Crucial M550 512GB 7mmand it works perfectly fine with my hack.

heads up about that i7-4790K - Mavericks won't boot / will give KP if you choose "Generate CPU states" during multibeast install and have Turoboost enabled in BIOS.

the easy way to mitigate this problem is to disable turboboost, but ideally you should setup Native CPU powermanagent (wonderful guide here
http://www.tonymacx86.com/mavericks-desktop-support/128926-mavericks-native-cpu-igpu-power-management.html)

Thanks for that! How about Yosemite? Or shouldn't I even consider going for Yosemite on my first build?

I updated my list to this now:

# Product # Total
1 Intel Core i7-4790K Boxed 1 € 302,95
1 Gigabyte GA-Z97X-UD5H 1 € 159,90
1 EVGA GeForce GTX 760 2GB Superclocked 1 € 217,50
1 Fractal Design Define R4 Pearl Black 1 € 85,95
1 Gelid Solutions Tranquillo Rev.2 1 € 22,40
1 Crucial Ballistix Tactical BLT2C8G3D1608ET3LX0CEU 1 € 132,95
