Hey everyone-

Gonna start a build thread here for my new test rig for Sandy Bridge! Note that this was build for budget and experimental purposes- not uber-performance ;) Although it gets about 9700 in Geekbench :p

Specs:

Gigabyte GA-H67MA-UD2H-B3

Zotac ZONE (Fanless) GeForce GT430 1 GB 128-Bit DDR3

Cooler Master Elite 341 m-ATX Mini Tower Case Black

Here's pretty much a bare bones guide on running this system:

Guide for iBoot + MultiBeast on Sandy Bridge Systems.

Update 1:

Got the motherboard, case, PSU. Waiting on CPU and RAM to arrive later today. Initial impressions- Gigabyte has updated some of the design elements- even on the non-Black models. This one still has standard blue Gigabyte colors, but some heat related component areas are updated.

Case appears adequate- nice pop n' lock slot access and for devices.

Ok, iBoot Legacy working for 10.6.3 Retail DVD- no flags necessary

PS: Using a 9800 GT for the initial install- to see how it works with a fully compatible graphics card.

Just noticed the choppy mouse- probably will need busratio=29 on reboot.

EDIT: Restarted and tried again- that fixed it ;) Thanks to all the super early adopters- this is turning out to be a breeze.

Not using it for the install.

Successful installation- swapped iBoot Legacy back in, now booting to new installation hard drive through iBoot.

Ok first wackiness- VoodooHDA/Patched kernel inside iBoot-Legacy gives massive sound issues with and without busratio=29. DSDT + ALC8xxHDA will solve I'm sure.

I am thinking of this board or the UDP3. I just need to convince myself I don't need to overclock anymore...
