Still no 60hz@4K with 10.10.3

Does anyone know about 4k@60Hz SST? I have a P2415Q arriving tomorrow... hoping it'll work with my 750 Ti.

Afaik it should, I have no trouble getting 4k@60Hz SST with a 970 and Samsung U28D590..

Checking back in! Just got the P2415Q, and I have it hooked to my GTX 750 Ti via DisplayPort. I'm running 10.10.3 and the latest web drivers. I ALSO have my old 1920x1080 via HDMI and 1280x1024 via DVI, all on the same 750 Ti.

I get the following resolutions on the P2415Q, all at 60Hz:
1504x846 (screenshot size: 3008x1692)
1920x1080 (screenshot size: 3840x2160)
2304x1296 (screenshot size: 4608x2592)
2560x1440 (screenshot size: 5120x2880)
3008x1692 (screenshot size: 6016x3384)

I'm not entirely sure how this all works with the Retina—surely my display doesn't actually have 6016x3384 pixels! But I've got Retina resolutions at 60Hz via SST, so I'm a happy camper. If anyone has more insight on all this feel free to let me know.

Hope this helps someone else!

Thanks for your replies guys!

It's so weird that some people get it working without any issues apparently and others don't.

@randombrain lucky you, glad that you've got it all working! What exactly do you mean by 'screenshot size' resolutions. How come it's not the same as your display resolution?

Would you guys be so kind to share your config.plist with us? Hopefully we can get some insight that way.

Same thing as happens on my rMBP—the resolution as shown in SysPrefs/SysInfo is not the same as the actual size of a screenshot of the entire screen. Here, for example, is a screenshot of my main display when System Preferences says it has a resolution of 2304x1296. The size of the image is 4608x2592.

Interestingly, the monitor's own menu reports a resolution of 3840x2160@60Hz no matter what I change in System Preferences, so I guess all scaling happens on the software side.

I don't think my config.plist will help—I think it's the fact that the monitor supports SST. But here it is if you want it.

It is how retina scaling works. The framebuffer is rendered at double the "perceived resolution", then scaled to actual hardware native resolution.

I wrote about it here: http://www.tonymacx86.com/mavericks-laptop-support/133254-adding-using-hidpi-custom-resolutions.html

How can I confirm that I have 4K at 60hz? It says 3840x2160, 60hz on my monitor input and I have the 'scaled' option in System Preferences that offers the option of 3840x2160, and if i put it on this setting and reboot, the System Report also states 3840x2160, 60hz. Does this mean I can now relax?

I have a Dell P2715Q and a PNY GTX 960 running off a z97x-ud7 TH and 4790k cpu. and a Clover install on a new 10.10.3

AFAIK the monitor menu info is the be-all, end-all of what the monitor is actually receiving. If that says 60Hz you're fine. And if SysInfo matches up with that, doubly fine.

I wrote about it here:

Cool, thanks! I managed to get somewhat higher apparent resolution on my other two monitors. The magnification differential between the regular and HiDPI monitors is still somewhat jarring, but I'll either get used to it or figure something else out.

How did you get it to work?

Grambo, I managed to follow your instructions before the post was removed.

However, I got a black screen when setting SMBIOS to 6,1 or 15,1.

I tried the GraphicsPolicy patch thing but no luck.

Is there a real reason to why 4k@60Hz isn't working?

It seems that Apple purposely has limited it. Is that the case?
If Yes, then why?
