thx a lot for your guide, it helped a lot getting my 8760w running on lion!

but i just don't get my graphics working, and i'm stuck on the 1024x768 resolution..

my graphics is a AMD firepro m5950 with a deviceID 6740, which i putted into the /s/l/ati5000/contents/info.plist

but no luck...any ideas?

I had 80gb sata internal hdd lying around so i thought to make a clone of my laptop's lion partition.
This is what i have done so far.
-connected the internal hdd to laptop via sata to usb connector
-formated the hdd to mac os extended journeled with guid table
-used ccc to clone the entire lion partition to the 80gb hdd

Now how to make sure that the drive is cloned perfectly?
How to make it bootable?

The reason i want to clone my lion partition is since my lion is working perfectly well so in future i would be using it as a restore hdd if i screw up my current lion installation

Not sure exactly how CCC works. But if it takes te while drice you may be good. Or you may need to go ahead and install chimera or chameleon on there as well.

Now here is a thing, i cloned the drive, installed the chimera, booted with the HDD conected to USB, and i got kernel panic .
Rebooted, went upto the home screen, got KP while opening safari
Rebooted again, got Kp where the bluetooth dialogue pops up....
In short i am unsuccessful

ccc works perfectly for me across partitions, it copies EVERYTHING including the bootloader.

You mean to say within the same hard drive but in a different partition?
If so, please tell me the steps.

there's nothing special to it, I just chose mac as source mac 2 as destination and hit clone.
