Get Ready for macOS Sierra

Oh, and if you play Blizzard games you will want Sierra on day one for improvements to Metal.

Not to mention that Blizzard like to kill support for the older OS X versions, for graphics reasons. OpenGL, AMD drivers, and now Metal are the reasons I always upgrade as soon as I can.

In this case, they have to get people to move to Sierra if they can. Metal in 10.11 is...well, beta, if you get my gist.

Are new NVIDIA web drivers and CUDA drivers going to be available for the final release? I tried the GM but there was no CUDA drivers from NVIDIA that worked with it. I see no reason to upgrade until those drivers are available.

If you have a GPU that can run on the stock drivers, you'll be OK until the official nVidia web drivers become available. If you have a Maxwell GPU, hang back until those are released, otherwise you'll feel the burn of a slow UI and/or general crashtasticness. nVidia's pretty damn quick about getting releases out, so don't fret - unless you have a burning need to be bleeding edge, a day or two isn't going to kill you or your system. :)

After months of testing, Apple plans to release macOS Sierra tomorrow via the Mac App Store.

Necessary for Update
To proceed with installation, you absolutely need the following.
  • Intel Core 2 or above, 64 bit CPU, 2GB RAM
  • A computer running Mac OS X 10.7.5 or later
  • Mac App Store account
  • Internet access to download the macOS Installation App through Mac App Store
  • 8.8GB free hard drive space available in /Applications
See Apple's Hardware Requirements for full details on Mac model compatibility.

Recommended Best Practices
When performing any full operating system upgrade, unexpected things can occur. To avoid data loss, these best practices should be adhered to. This upgrade should be a breeze, but if things do go wrong, you can always go back to your working installation.
  • Back up all of your data
  • Buy a spare USB drive
  • Clone your working drive
Site Updates
Soon we'll be releasing UniBeast 7.0 with a full installation guide. MultiBeast 9.0 for macOS Sierra will also be released in the coming days.
