Budget Friendly AMD 620 Motherboards launch

Gigabyte throws in a surprise motherboard to the A620 ring, no USB 3.2 Gen 2 here though. Newegg does have it listed for $99.99 but we’re all waiting for the Gaming X AX!.

And a day after showing up the A620M S2H price drops to a competitive $86.99. And if you were lucky enough to live near a Micro Center and paired it with a 7600X and 16 GB of DDR5!... $325 for AM5 entry point, (assuming you already have storage, PSU and GPU).

The board seems to have more transistors!, the website says 5+2+2 phases Digital VRM... I won't pretend I know what that means!. Just two RAM slots, perfect for the Micro Center Combo DDR5. I like that the PCIe slot would likely be accessible with the inclusion of a fat GPU!, and would happily sit a WiFi/BT card. Just one M.2 M key PCIe 4.0 X4 and only 2 USB 3.2 Gen 1 but, 7, yes 7 USB 2 ports, 3 on the back 4 on the board. And support for AMD EXPO, which you might want to steer clear of for now!.

Also while visiting the Gigabyte site I noticed another 620 motherboard, A620M H. A quick check through the specs suggested it was the same as the A620M S2H, one can only assume it will be cheaper simply because it lacks the 'S2'. I probably wouldn't recommend chucking a 170W 7950X in there, but I would a 7600X. I think that would make a great AM5 budget gaming combo.

Now then!, while waiting for the X AX Gigabyte throws in the first Mini-ITX A620 motherboard, no word on price yet though!. Gigabyte have mentioned the EXPO/Melting motherboard issue in the BIOS update, warning that you shouldn't exceed 1.3V on the SOC voltage, though some have claimed the X and X3D are compatible, weather you should is debatable!.
