First, I'm happy to report that FCP X wroks great on my system Good thing too, because that's the reason I built a Hack.

I've updated to 10.6.8 and I do have a problem with audio pops. Anyone have any ideas?

Have you tried this?
Antipop (only download if you hate the popping noises OS X makes when it turns off the sound) [Download]

This method come from this topic.

so is it possible to use this motherboard without any major problems that you can't fix?
as for the sound-card can you buy a separate one with HD audio that works wonders in Mac OS x. This is my first proper Hackintosh build that i'am doing it DIY without proper tutorials etc. since i'am building a Hackintosh i want to be 100% sure that each of my hardware works properly.
My Specs:
CPU: Intel Core i7-2600
Graphics: ATI Sapphire Radeon 5850
Motherboard: Of course Asus P8Z68 Deluxe
Memory: Corsair Vengeance Blue 8GB @ 1866MHz
SSD: OCZ Vertex 2

As of yet I haven't bought any of the specs above but these are ones i am thinking of not 100% sure if this is the hardware i am buying.

Hi.

Im newbe with hackintosh as well.

This is what I achieved for now with this motherboard.

HD5770 - works on (dvi or hdmi or both)
Audio ALC889 - works with Non-DSDT 889 enabler
Speedsteper - works
Bluetooth - works
Wifi - works (I have miniPCIE Dell wifi card)
JMicron and Marvel controllers - works and recognised in system profile
Trim - works
64bit -works

Sleep - not working (sleep ok but wake up with black screen)
LAN - I didnt try and didnt needed it (I have both controllers disabled in bios)
eSata - not working

All system stable and without kernel panics.

If you follow Guide by TooSixy almost everthing is fine :) So, your choice.

With regards to having your own DSDT file, you might want to contact MaLd0n (see this thread) and ask him to help generate a DSDT file for your Z68 board.

Thank you for giving me this contact. Maldon is great.
Now I have my own patched DSDT.
But as I wrote on DSDT Autopatcher thread those things are bigger than me.
When I apply my dsdt file as you did in your guide I dont have audio. It appears in System Profile as ID12 but its not working.
Actually I cant see any differences, only one thing - Intel Z68 Sata reconised :)

One more thing:
Here is patched DSDT.aml for my Asus P8Z68 - Link
Maybe it will help someone to get things work properly.

@pcascio
Could the Audio Pops be related to the HDMI on the ATI 6870? Do you have a different Video card to test without HDMI? Hope you get a solution... Also is the pop embeded into your rendered files or just during playback? I am sure your tracks are recorded clean but my question is about the output file retaining the pop or is it just an annoying output issue?

Did you download FCP X from the App Store? It all went smooth? Thanks for taking the time to let me know, can't wait to get mine going!

Hi ^^

How many Pstates can you get working ?
Did you set the Turbo State manually in the bios?

I've set 38 - 37 -36 -35 and I've got:

Code:
Francescos-iMac kernel[0]: MSRDumper PStatesReached: 16 26 30 34 35 36 37

I've the P8z68 Deluxe and I saw that when I get in the bios the cpu's temperature gets too high, Is this the same for you?

I have something like this:

Code:
Jul 8 18:41:29 ubuntu kernel[0]: MSRDumper CoreMulti(16)
Jul 8 18:41:29 ubuntu kernel[0]: MSRDumper PStatesReached: 16 43

Is that means that speedstepper is not working?
How did you set up this?

The thing with temp of cpu in bios was making me wonder too. I have 50C with realy good cooler.
I asked my comp service and they answered that it is completly normal with new asus and msi bioses. The cpu is under big load cause all gui of bios is rendered in cpu not gpu.

Code:
Jul 8 18:41:29 ubuntu kernel[0]: MSRDumper CoreMulti(16)
Jul 8 18:41:29 ubuntu kernel[0]: MSRDumper PStatesReached: 16 43

The speedstep is working, but it could work better.
Using the speedstepper it's possible to get 9 pstates working.

The Pstates are used to change the cpu's voltage, more chooses it has better is ^^

Try to set 4 different turbo ratio for every core in the bios, save and reboot.

I'm doing a similar build to you guys,

Got it onto 10.6.8 however I can't seem to get speedstep working

Did you guys modify the dsdt at all?

I was trying to use DSDT but it didnt give me any improvement.
So now everything is working without it.
Look at TooSixy guide. It works with our mobos well but without dsdt.
