I've recently been looking into running a hackintosh setup on my Dell N5040 laptop, and have successfully installed OSX Snow Leopard (10.6.3) with only the ethernet and touchpad being an issue as the OS doesn't seem to recognise those, but thats not so much of an issue right now.
However, following TonyMac's iBoot, Multibeast + Combo Update method, I seem to be hitting a snag.
I've followed the instructions to the letter but when I restart the machine I end up getting a kernel panic with the following information
I did read somewhere (my apologies, the source escapes me) that this may be a RAM issue, but I'm not overly sure at the current time. (I will be testing this in due course)
I've run the bootup with the following flags (in many different variations) but don't seem to have found a successful one yet.
Flags: -x -v -acpi=off -PCIRootUID=1 (and the 0 alternative) -arch=i386
My system specs are detailed below along with relative software information.
CPU: Intel i5-520M @ 2.40GHz (Upgraded from the original i3)
RAM: 2x 4GB DDR3
SSD: AMD Radeon R7 60GB (Win10 Home) (Internal)
HDD: Toshiba 160GB (Macintosh) (External, Connected via USB)
GFX: Onboard
Mobo: As Installed by Dell at time of purchase
iBoot Version: 3.10.1
SnowLeopard Version: 10.6.3
ComboUpdate Version: 10.6.8
Multibeast Version: 3.00
Right now, I'm just looking to get a working 10.6.8 install with ethernet capability so that I progressively upgrade (hopefully) to El Capitan in the long term, as i would ideally like to run xCode 7
Any help that could be provided would be greatly appreciated.
