Hello guys, i was wondering if you could give me some tips and solve me a few time. I have a notebook with intel core i7 3630QM, Nvidia GeForce 640M, 4GB DDR3 (i could't find the model), harddisk Western WD7500 BPKT, Audio Realtek , Wifi Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6235, Network Realtek PCI GBE Family and BIOS Insyde H20 Rev. 3.7 (EC Version 2.30, System BIOS Version 2.30). With this, can i have a great perfomance, or even better, can i install hackintosh montain lion with no problems?

I'm asking this because i've read some posts and the people have said that when you install mac osx you lose all windows data by formating the hard disk to the correct mode.

Really thanks for your time !

Is your nvidia dedicated or switched (Optimus)? If it is switched, it is not supported and you'll use only HD4000.

Intel WiFi is not supported and must be replaced.

Correct. If you're planning to run Windows and OS X off the same HDD, you will need to re-install Windows and restore data from backup.

Thanks for the answer ! It is dedicated.

I think if it is dedicated it should work, but I have no idea what you need to do to enable it. No personal experience with discrete cards on laptops.

Ok, but if the GeForce 640M stop working on mac, could i use the Intel HD 4000 ? If it is 100% compatible, it's a great start.

And thinking of a solution for the wifi problem, could i fix that bying the [h=1]D-Link / DWA-131 ?[/h]Thanks

I thought you didn't have HD4000? If you have HD4000, then your Nvidia is not dedicated.

I thought that every Intel core i7 processors have an chipset with intel hd graphics, like the website of intel says (http://ark.intel.com/products/71459). The website of my notebook says that has Nvidia 640M (1GB Dedicated). I've read some posts and my gpu is the Optimus that you've said before.

Yes, all Ivy CPUs have Intel HD Graphics integrated. But the OEM doesn't have to hook it up. It is possible to build a system that has dedicated discrete graphics, but most laptops use some sort of switching (for nvidia, Optimus) to conserve battery life.

To determine what you have, run 'lspci -nn' in Linux Terminal. Post output here.
