Mavericks Fans,

OK, Got my 10.9 downloaded and Unibeast 3 / 10.9 USB drive ready to go! But where the 10.8.5 installer worked with no flags, I've tried -x, GraphicsEnabler=Yes, GraphicsEnabler=No, PCIRootUID=0 - heck, just about everything I can think of.

The screen goes blank after the Apple logo no matter what I try. This is not the latest generation of hardware - but it should work fine:

Gigabyte GA-EP45T-UD3LR
nVidia GTS 250
8GB DDR3-1333
Apple 128GB SSD w. adapter

boot with -v too see if you can catch some messages. May want to also try to patch AppleRTC. You will need it patched anyhow. Not sure that will fix anything but worth a try.

I understand you can't do anything with a blank screen. This is why its sometimes nice to have a prior OS on a second partition or drive so you can work with the mavericks drive. I guess you can boot into single mode -s and mount then install the AppleRTC patch that way. FakeSMC update might help as well. Just review the messages in verbose boot.

OK, just read the comments under the announcement of UniBeast. If you have an Award BIOS or older chipset (mine is a P45) and an older nVidia card, then use:

GraphicsEnabler=Yes PCIRootUID=1

exactly, nothing else. Just used that and the 10.9 installer appeared and I'm installing now. Bravo!

Great to hear. I assumed you tried all combinations otherwise I would have suggested that first thing. You will still need the AppleRTC patch or you will get the dreaded CMOS reset after wake from sleep. I know I have of these motherboards and every single OSX update since Lion needed it.

Older cards need to have different commands to run.

Try GraphicsEnabler=Yes NPCI=0x2000 PCIRootUID=1

OR

GraphicsEnabler=Yes NPCI=0x3000 PCIRootUID=1

OR

-x -v -f GraphicsEnabler=Yes NPCI=0x2000

OR

-x -v -f BuiltInEthernet=Yes GraphicsEnabler=Yes

In your case Frank242, you need a completely new system (to run Mavericks). Your system must be 'ideally' Core i3, i5 or i7 running Sandy Bridge, Ivy Bridge or Haswell. Check the Tonymac 10.9 board compatibility lists on this.

@Middleman,

Sorry for the off topic but how did your install of 10.9 go for your GA-Z77X and GA-Z68X MB's?

Oh my install on both the Gigabyte Z77X-UP5-TH and Asus P8Z68 V PRO went well. On both I installed Unibeast using -v -x -f GraphicsEnabler=Yes PCIRootUID=1 and Nvidia cards. On the Gigabyte I turned off the Internal Display in BIOS and set it to PEG, using only the HDMI socket. After I got in, I used minimal drivers and added only the audio (Realtek Without DSDT ALC898), GraphicsEnabler and PCiRootUID fix, Kernel Cache, 1080P Display fix, and hNaks Intel1000ESD driver.
