Does anyone know why this is?? Win 7 internet is incredibly fast compared to 10.8.2. Also should I check for Software updates. Im not sure if there are some for the OS but I havent updated because I finally got eveything working right(except the dam wifi). It also drops connections alot for what appears to be no reason. I am using an alfa network card awus036nh I also Have the atheros wifi chip works natively with apple. I read about problems with the wifi on mountain lion is anyone else having these problems and if so what have you done??

I have a presumption -I think the cause is the driver itself. The Atheros kext, bundled with OS X, is based (as far as I know) on the reference Atheros driver v.4.x, while the latest Windows driver is v.10.x. And the people at Cupertino don't seems to care about that.

I'm also sick of the build in Atheros WIFI speed of 54mbit on a N network, I don't want to fiddle with the eGPU sotware (is it even easy to implement?)
so I', looking in to hacking one of the USB Ports on the left side and put a small WIFI USB inside the case with the original WIFI antenna attached to it, like this one http://www.pearl.de/a-PX8266-1224.shtml. Already got a BT module from a MacBook inside so will see.

As you know I use 300Mbps BCM94322HM8L card. It is fully supported in OSX (100%). In Windows drivers are provided by HP. Works in Linux after downloading firmware(bcmwl) by connecting Ethernet first. After using it for 2 months I'm quite happy. Only con is the "702 card unsupported blah blah" message at the boot.
And no need to fiddle with eGPU. We are using modified FanReset.dylib with Chimera.

And this modified FanReset.dylib is already in the Installer  I can confirm that the "trick" works with BCM94322HM8L, I have one of these too, but pin 20 should be taped as well in order to work.

Is it optional, or is everybody using it now?

This is a great news! thx for that. I thought I have to use eGPU DIY for white list.

Will the boot process stop at the "702 card unsupported blah blah" message or just go on?

It stops, but only for 14-15 seconds and then continue, but you can always hit Enter to make it continue at once.

14-15 seconds is ok as long as it boots. I need it in case I need to reboot from remote location because I user every day when I'm on the road and the ProBook is at home.
$10 is also good price for the BCM94322HM8L card :)
