Haswell GT1 no QE/CI on Mavericks

... Haswell-based Celeron is still a no go.

Yes, probably so... And it is too easy to purchase hardware which is compatible.

I think the fact that these IDs and GT1 support were removed from the kexts in Yosemite is a true sign that the support was never finished, never tested.

Oh... one other thing I should mention...

It might be useful to look at the guide for 1st gen Intel HD. There are some parameters in the kext's Info.plist that you can tweak and some of that is done for 1st gen Intel HD. Perhaps some of the same changes apply here.

Whoa, that looks very interesting, thank you. I guess I can spend some time to read and try it. Will report back in a few days.

tvhung, I've been catching up to your recent posts, it's been nasty here in Colorado over the last few days with all the rain, hail, snow. Incredible. Thanks so much to both you and ReHabMan. I thought the HP Stream mini had a shot. I want to build a dual boot machine that is mac mini-like, so maybe a NUC or Brix at this point. The Stream would have been nice since it has a 2.5" drive bay for my old Win7 drive which has lots of data on it. I still have much to learn about mac hacking. I used to build PCs back in the late 90's, tested mobo's, tested memory, etc. All this stuff about fakeIDs and kexts and such are new to me, but I'll learn.

Do you guys have a recommendation for a dual-boot beginners platform? Performance is not high on the list, but low cost/small form factor hardware is.

Hi gman76, sorry for the late response. I think I'm gonna stop, there are many reasons, but mostly is because after I replace OEM SSD, and restoring original Windows partition, Disk Utilities won't allow me to add HFS partition (while GParted works just fine, but without the ability of HFS). That's just disappointed, since it's the whole reason why I upgrade it. Second of all, I've tried some other device IDs today, still no luck, so I think the chance is somewhere near zero. Regarding your question, I'd go for an i5 NUC, if you care about WiFi, don't choose RYK model, since it has an Intel WiFi card soldered. I personally will pick one of them soon.

About 2.5" compatibility of HP Stream Mini, it's not that easy. You will need a special ribbon cable (please see attachments), which existed in HP Pavilion Mini. If I recall correctly, someone mentioned that it can cost up to $75 at the moment.

UPDATE: MSI also has some interested barebones:

I attach here my current work, in case someone interested. Also a small video to show how it works (of course, only when it did :D, I set the video as unlisted, to avoid confusion): http://youtu.be/EBdFxFpVkuc

Hi RehabMan, I got the same idea, except I created the placeholder partition using GParted, and then try to format under Disk Utilities. It didn't work, always hang at "Preparing to partition...".

You need to read the (entire) linked thread.

- With an MSR partition present (and EFI 200MB+), you can still format existing partitions in Disk Utility, but not create them. This limitation can cause issues for certain imaging operations (Restore) in Disk Utility.
But i'm having 360MB EFI part, yet can't format existing partition to HFS :(
In fact, I may try to remove MSR partitions, but since I consider this as a failed experiment, I don't want to invest much time on it. I'd like to give NUC a shot instead.
*Note: I'm comparing with my external drive, 200MB is default size of Clover.
