Ok, so I'm having a weird problem with my newly installed BCM94352Z.

It used to work fine without any problems but now It's acting all weird.

It won't connect to any network (tested two, one at a friends house and my iPhone Hotspot) except my home network.

On OS X it says "Connection Timeout" and on Windows "Cannot connect to the Network" (or something like that).

Sometimes, through many restarts and pulling the Wi-Fi card out and putting it back in maybe it will connect to a network, works for a few seconds and then drops the connection.

When I put the old Intel Card back in it works without any problem.
When I want to connect to my home network it works instantly, on both Mac and Windows.

NOTE: I have 2 versions of the Network, one 5GHz and one normal. I used to connect to the normal but but after I created a special 5GHz version I started using that one (this IS NOT when the problem started). I tried connect to the normal one but it just hangs, no errors but it just never connects.

I saw many threads regarding this (especially Yosemite) but my problem is in BOTH OS's.

Note: The black wire (for the antennas) is longer than the white wire and on the Intel card the position is Black, White. On the BCM its White, Black. Since the White wire is so short they may have touched at some point (I'm sure they were touching, but it was still working, both Mac and Windows).

Could my card be damaged ?
I'm asking this since yeah, it works with ONE network (and works without ANY sort of problems) it wont work with another network, on ANY OS. The ANY OS part is what scares me, I hope it's not a card problem.

Note: I ran some diagnostics on mac and I had 3 possibilities (but I dont know if they are even related to my case or just random advice) saying something about country code (that's when I tried connecting to my iPhone Hotspot).

Networks Involved:

My Network 5GHz (works without any sort of problem in both os's)
My Network ( takes some time and at the end It can't connect to it)
iPhone Hotspot (Connection Timeout on Mac and on Windows it connects for a second, the iPhone shows 1 Device Connected and then it disconnects immediatly)
Friends Home Network (Connection Timeout on Mac and Can't Connect to the Network on Windows)

Im inclined to say the card is damaged but why does it work without ANY sort of problems with my home network and why was it working with all the networks in the past ?

Can anyone help ? Thanks !

What method are you using to enable the card on Yosemite?

Does the problem occur in Windows after an EC reset/cold start?

What method are you using to enable the card on Yosemite?

Does the problem occur in Windows after an EC reset/cold start?

So I opened the case, detached the battery, pressed the power button for like 30 seconds to consume all the power, waited 5-7 minutes and attached the battery. I assume that's an EC Reset.

Still the same problem. The laptop won't connect to another network except the 5GHz one. I can't test it with another 5Ghz since I dont have 2 routers.

On OS X I use FakePCIID BCM4352Z as xxxx ( can't remember the numbers ) and the bcmrampatch for bluetooth.

I have seen a thread on the Apple forum with people that can ONLY connect to 5GHz networks, but I can't find it now.

I find it logical to be a OS problem, but it happens on both. So ok, router problem, but all my devices work with it (it's an airport extreme) and the laptop can't connect to other router and my iPhone hotspot.

If I just put the old card back it works with no problem (however only on windows since OS X doesn't support Intel).

If it matters my Intel card has some pins covered and some pins cut off. This would've mattered IF my card didn't work right from the start. But it did, it worked with my normal network (not the 5GHz one).

I read threads and no one can say that a card that connects to a network and connects to the internet using that network is faulty or damaged.

Weird....

Could be regdomain/locale issue... Or just some sort of hardware incompatibility/router setup problem.

How can I fix this ?

Can you point me to a trustworthy guide ?

It works with my Intel card and it worked before with this card so I don't think it's that.

Hardware incompatibility ? What are you referring to ?

I don't know of one dealing with regdomain issues with BCM WiFi.

The regdomain is programmed into EEPROM (at least with Atheros). I don't know the details of BCM. My BCM94352HMB is working fine with 5Ghz and all the routers I've tried, so no need to look into it.

Hardware incompatibility ? What are you referring to ?

Incompatibility with card/firmware and the particular router (or router configuration). You say it works with some, but not others... and the problem appears to be OS agnostic... which points to a difference in the configuration of each... It is not uncommon.

It doesnt even work with 2 different networks on the same router. It won't connect to my non 5Ghz network but it connects to the 5Ghz one.

Is that the case on Windows after EC reset and cold boot into only Windows?

If so, points to a hardware issue...

Yeah, Uninstall drivers, EC Reset, Reinstall drivers.

It won't work with the non 5ghz connection of my router.

I tried connecting the iPhone hotspot through bluetooth and it works. When I try to connect to the iPhone through the wireless network it doesnt. Note that this is all on Windows. Im trying to fix it on windows since it would be more simple and there are drivers written for this device for windows and not os x.

Maybe this will help :

Ok.

I think you have a hardware problem.
