Z77 with Sandy Bridge

Hi Guys,

quick question I'm plaing to go Mini-ITX on a few PCs they all have i7-2600k CPUs in them. Now before I go and spend some money, I woud like to ask if it is possbile to just upgrade the motherboard and still use the 2600k's?

I'm not sure what Board it will be but since it's a K CPU it will be a Z77 so I can overclock if I need to.

I will not be using the Internal HD3000 as we all have dedicated Graphics but just in case of of the dedicated ones fail can I use that with a Z77 and ML?

yes theyll work.
as youre using dedicated gfx cards, you wont have an issue.
there is an issue with using the hd3000 on 7series boards

As you are the "Asus Guy" would you say the P8Z77-I Deluxe works oob or do I need to do some funky patching?

id like to think i embrace all brands...like a hippy tech fanatic.

depends how you class oob.
needs a modded bios, and to get sleep working properly you need to use a dsdt fix from toleda, but other than that its a solid board.

some may see that as far from oob, personally i like that board.
if you dont need the oc'ing capability, might be better to go with another board eg. the gigabyte z77 itx boards coming out as theyll be cheaper, wont need a modded bios and sleep will probably work without any dsdt edits
