Hi everyone,
I have beed struggling since Friday to upgrade my Z77-DS3H/Core i5 3570K/Intel HD 4000 but I always faced problems, mainly with sound not working. I did it finally so I though that this might help someone else too.
This guide is for upgrading a Mavericks 10.9.5 system. Please backup first before attempting to follow it!!!
1) Download and install Chimera 4.0.0
2) Erase /Extra/modules/FileNVRAM.dylib (sudo rm /Extra/modules/FileNVRAM.dylib)
3) Erase /System/Library/Extensions/GenericUSBXHCI.kext (sudo rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/GenericUSBXHCI.kext)
4) Edit /Extra/org.chameleon.Boot.plist and remove:
<string>mach_kernel</string>
<key>Kernel Flags</key>
5) Create a bootable USB using UniBeast 5
6) Boot from USB and install OS X Yosemite over your existing Mavericks installation
7) After the installation is complete reboot and boot into your new Yosemite installation. (no need to boot from USB!!!)
8) Run MultiBeast and install only: Drivers > Network> Atheros> ALXEthernet v1.0.2
9) Reboot and your network should work at this point.
10) Download https://www.dropbox.com/s/7ltbag4kvf...8.4+Lion.zip, extract and install VoodooHDA-v2.8.4.pkg.
11) Reboot and your sound will be back. (You will have to select the output/input source from System Preferences)
12) Remove /System/Library/Extensions/GenericUSBXHCI.kext
13) Download the new USB kext (https://bitbucket.org/RehabMan/os-x-generic-usb3/downloads/RehabMan-Generic-USB3-2014-1016.zip)
14) Use KextBeast to install it and reboot.
Your system now should be running Yosemite without any problems and much faster that Mavericks!!!
