Z68X-UD5-B3 MB with Radeon 6870 unresponsive after waking from sleep

Every time my computer goes to sleep and wakes up from the touch of the mouse or keyb the computer monitor does not wake from sleep. I have to reset the computer and boot into safe mode and reapply the post installation essentials "cust to mac" for clover. Only after applying the package the computer boots normal again. Issue is easily reproducible. Is this normal or am I doing wrong?
