I just set up my "Mini replacement" (GA-H77N-Wifi, i3 3225) and found out that the board does not support Wake On Lan with the integrated on-board ethernet card. I already ordered a Sonnet replacement but found out that using the Apple USB Ethernet adapter (in combination with an Apple Airport Express access point acting as Bonjour proxy) makes WOL work perfectly.
The "Mac" stays visible on my network and leaves deep sleep / sleep on network requests (ie. when accessing via Finder from another Mac or requesting screen sharing).
Maybe this works for someone else, too.
