Hi,
I build a 'hack pro' about 4-5 years ago or something, looking to upgrade to a new one. The hacking itself shouldn't really be a problem, but I'm not that familiar with computer components etc, so I'm looking for some help if possible.
I'm looking into getting one of the cheaper 4K monitors as well (more desk space to work on), I don't really know if 1 GTX 770 is enough to power that?
And I was wondering another thing, if it would be a smart thing to build a hackintosh now? Or should I wait maybe 1 or 2 months (or more..) when Yosemite comes out?
Motherboard (this is the hardest one for me), I was looking at these options, the UD7 has thunderbolt, but for the rest I don't really know what the difference is? And if the difference is important for video editing purposes (90% video editing / photoshop etc, 10% gaming probably)
Gigabyte Z97X-UD7-TH
Gigabyte Z97X-UD5H
Processor
Intel Core i7 4790K
Graphics Card
GTX 770, don't really know wich one yet, heard that one with 4GB memory would be better since I'm looking into getting a 4K monitor as well, don't know if that is true or not though?
RAM
Looking into 2x8 at first, maybe 4x8 if I have enough cash, otherwise I will update that later. Does it matter wich brand of RAM I use for use in a hackintosh? No, right?
Power supply
Should 650 Watt be enough to power up this system?
I don't know what case and CPU cooler and other stuff I'm gonna pick up yet, figure that out later.
I know there are a lot of question marks in there, but for as far as I know these parts should all work in a hackintosh. The main thing is the motherboard, kinda in the dark about that one, I know some options just not really sure why I should choose this option or that option if you know what I mean. And I'm wondering if I should buy one now, or wait for Yosemite. Hope somebody can give me some help / suggestions here and there.
