Comments
At first, I installed Windows 7 Home edition on its own HDD. I transferred all my data from my old computer, retaining two of the old drives. It took about 1 week.
Then, my first Hackintosh:
I've flashed the latest BIOS and disconnected all the HDD's except the Western Digital. Then, I've followed to the letter the Clover and Yosemite guide found here:
http://www.tonymacx86.com/yosemite-desktop-guides/144426-how-install-os-x-yosemite-using-clover.html. I used Clover 3050 BTW.
All went well except that I had to install the network interface kext with KextWizard at the post-install stage.
I don't use the internal audio as I have an USB interface (Roland Quad-Capture): the thing caused a couple of KP with the Yosemite driver so I had the idea to force the 10.7 (Lion) kext with Pacifist: no more problems since...
I don't use iMessage or Facetime so I can't comment on their functionnality...
So far, all the apps I use on my MacBook Pro 2011 (Lion 10.7.5) works fine. I transferred all my pictures, mail data and adress book data from the MBP: success!
Two minor drawbacks:
1- When waking from sleep, my left monitor is full of snow for about one minute until it resumes fine. This problem is also present on real Macs as I've found on the web. It could be related to the HDMI to DVI adapter...
2- Since adding an USB 3.0 external HDD, I have the following message in verbose mode (I boot in verbose 'cause the main boot screen is garbled during the boot process):
"The IOUSBFamily did not receive enough extra current for the Hard drive asked for 400mA but got 0 mA". The issue is cosmetic it seems as it looks all is working fine once booted... Curious however. The drive is used for data, Time Machine and Carbon Copy Cloner.
For the next days, I plan to install Mavericks on a spare 160 SATAIII HDD just for fun.
Thanks.
