Just wanted to post my build....might help someone out there with some decisions....

First of all all the real hard work was done by Tonymac so all credit really goes to him
Also thanks to everyone on this forum and insanelymac....really this build was only made possible through their help

The Build:
Core i5 750 @ 3.2Ghz - $149
GA-P55M-UD2 - $104.99
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB- $93.99
Sony Optiarc 24X DVD/CD SATA Drive - $29.99
Thermaltake Spedo Full Tower Case - $80 (open box on sale from Microcenter)
160GB Seagate Hard Drive (Main boot, had from previous build)
550W ULTRA X-connect Power Supply - (Had from previous build)
BFG Geforce 8600GT 256 - (Had from previous build)
ZALMAN FS-V7 2 Ball VGA Cooler - $10.49
ZEROtherm CORE92 Cooler -$29.99

Approximate Total Cost (without tax &shipping) - $498.45

Also threw in another 1.5TB for storage and have another 3x1.5TB in RAID5 in my ReadyNAS NV+

Just followed Tony's Guides, everything worked great. O'C to 3.2, found to be stable while running Win7 so kept the settings....no problems with it so far
Idle Temp is stable at around 35
Prime 95 barely touches 60
Never seen in go above 45 otherwise

Also using my Apple Wired Aluminum Keyboard, Magic Mouse, and 28" HANNS-G LCD (~300)

Not bad for around $500
And replicating the 27" iMac experience for under a grand....not bad at allDSC_0096.jpg

Move your graphics card up to the top slot and your graphics performance will improve a bit, as the bottom slot is only PCI Express 1.0 x4 rather than PCI Express 2.0 x16 as per the top slot :ugeek:

+1 I was just about to post this.
It's actually a PCIe 2.0 slot, but is indeed limited to 1.1 speeds. I saw someone bench a 4890 on both slots with a bout a 15% loss using the bottom slot.

hey thanks for the catch guys, moved the card
Don't think im really maxing it out though so not sure if I cna see a difference.
Xbench scores on openGL and Quartz are about the same and my frame rate in COD4 hasnt really changed either, but definitely a good idea to have it in the best position regardless.

Cool!! :D..

- How did u get the ram to work at 1600?

You run a BCLK of 160 with a memory multiplier of 10 or 200 with 8. :)

exactly....I'm using 160 with a mm of 10....works great
