Hey guys, tried searching but found no real answer.

Got OSX running beautifully on my GA H55N-USB 3 using the Voodoo audio kext.

Issue is the SPDIF on the back of the MOBO doesnt function at all. I can select it in system pref. but no audio comes out.

Anyone have this board and got SPDIF working?

thank you for your time.

Also got the same issue. Get a crackle from the SPDIF on the motherboard as well as on the phono socket.

Anyone got it to work?

Did you guys manage to get this working? I have a similar problem.

I've done a rebuild using the latest versions of both MB and IBOOT using the DSDT..F5.aml from the database, updated to 10.6.8 and everything is working perfectly apart from Audio (no kernel panics at all, touch wood). I used ALC8xxHDA & AppleHDA Rollback for audio in MB.

Under system prefs > sound > output: I only have 2 options.
1. Internal speakers - Built in (Analog out on the rear)
2. Digital Out - Optical digital-out port (Also on the rear).
Analog works perfectly but nothing out of the optical output.

The only way I can get my SPDIF working (whether it be optical out the back or via the header on the mobo) in 10.6.8 is to boot from the IBOOT disk. System prefs > sound > output now look like this:
1. Line out / Line out / Line out /Line out (assuming these are the analog outs on the rear for surround sound)
2. Headphones
3. SPDIF Out (which is the optical out on the back)
4. SPDIF Out (which is the header on the mobo)

Could someone please connect the dots for me tell me what it is about the IBOOT disk that allows this to work? comparing com.apple.Boot.plist on both the IBOOT disk and my Hack Mini is where i think the issue lies but i don't want to play with these as i'm not certain.

If i have to i will just boot form the IBOOT disk every time but would prefer not to.

Cheers,
Roe.

Hi Roe,

I have exactly the same setup. I have the same outputs showing in sys.setup.
I get a crackling through the SPDIF on motherboard and on the phono connector.

Are you sure the digital out works with iBoot? I can't get mine to work at all.

Hi there,

Yes the only way my SPDIF works is by booting from the IBOOT disk in my setup. Audio is only crackling on some (not all) of the system sounds. I've tested playback on a few movies and they all sound fine. Let me know if there is anything else i can test for you. Between us we might be able to work it out?

Cheers.

Which kext are you using?

Hey, i have the same issue, i've used the vodoohda and it crashes and i get a kernel panic.

Do you know how to solve this problem about SPDIF

I can use some voodo drivers but some of them make the mac crashing.

The sistem is working perfect under 10.6.8 just stuck on Audio, i can get audio from rear and front but very very low volume, and not spdif.

Any help?
Thanks in advance
