Hi All!

Finally making the jump to Catalina from Mojave (after a software upgrade means I now need to upgrade the OS).

Having tried every option possible with no luck (never ending dead ending on the 1689 issue), I decided to revert to my original idea of a completely fresh install to a new, untouched 1TB SSD.

The process so far:

To play safe, I downloaded an old install of 10.15

I built a Unibeast USB Catalina installer (on a Samsung 32Gb USB) successfully.

But when the time comes to install...

1. Start the machine.

2. Boots into Clover.

3. Select 'Install Catalina from...' boot drive.

Then...

Install starts. Hits about 40% progress bar and then the machine reboots, where I have to re-select the boot drive and start the process again.

This happens 4-5 times. I've tried to capture the point it happen in verbose mode but the happens too fast for a screen grab.

On the 6th (or so) go, the progress bar gets to about 50% and then stops dead and stays there.

Does anyone have any idea what may be happening here? I've attached the Unibeast EFI for reference.

Many thanks to all in advance.

OK, got this solved. Used Open Core to do a fresh install and (other than one user error mistake) got it installed first go. Happily running 10.15.7.
