Hello,

I'm trying to install SL on my new computer (i3-2125 with Intel HD 3000, Gigabyte H67A-USB3-B3, 8Gb of DDR3). Here's what I did (i'm in dual boot GUID Partition Table):

1) iBoot + Mac OSX Install 10.6 --> Installation ok
2) iBoot (boot SL on HDD) --> fast boot ok
3) MultiBeast with DSDT
4) Boot from HDD (without iBoot) --> KP with "Unsupported CPU...AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement"
4bis) Boot from iBoot --> ok
5) MultiBeast with NullCPUPowerManagement
6) Boot from HDD --> New KP about "AppleACPICPU"

What am I doing wrong? why does iBoot load SL but not my HDD bootloader? Difference in the Kernel?

My Processor appears as "Unknown" in "about this Mac".

Re: KP : Unsupported CPU booting from HDD

Just to be sure i exposed well my problem:

Every time I boot from my HDD, my computer gets into Panic Kernel relative to CPU.
I can boot SL from iBoot with no problem (just have an "unknown cpu" in "about my mac" and can't install Lion).

KP with "Unsupported CPU...AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement"
or KP with "AppleACPICPU...ProcessorId... Enabled/Disabled"

Is my CPU supported? Could you please advice me something?

Re: KernelPanic : "unsupported CPU" booting SL (i3-2125)

I finally got it to work. Here's how :

1) With iBoot only : 10.6 Retail + 10.6.6 update + 10.6.8 update (via UpdateHelper)
2) Then boot from HDD bootloader
3) xMove --> create OSX Lion Installer partition
4) Then boot OSX Lion Installer (i had to boot with -x)
5) With rBoot : MultiBeast (DSDT + MacMini + AppleHDA rollback + Realtek Ethernet)

Now everything's working fine at 1680x1050 via HD 3000 (I had to plug/unplug DVI to make it fully work).

To conclude (for SandyBridge CPUs) : Never try to use an other bootloader than iBoot's one until 10.6.8 is installed.

Thanks tonymacx86.com

Hi Tom214,

I also have a laptop with these same settings but I can not install the snow leopard. Could you tell me details about your successful installation?

Thank you!

It's very important to ALWAYS boot via iBoot CD until 10.6.8 Combo update is installed.
The installation procedure is already detailed here.

Tell me where you get stuck.

Hi Tom,

I tried the both boot (-x and -F).
See the result.

After the ACPI_SMC_PlatformPlugin line, the screen turn black and the laptop freezes (without reboot automatically). I need to force shutdown.

Thanks,

Are you able to boot from iBoot?
Have you tried to install MultiBeast with NullCPUPowerManagement?

PS : To be sure, could you please tell us what's the actual state of your system (OSX version + kexts installed), where you boot from (HDD or iBoot) and what you have tried.
