This is a new issue that has only recently started on parts that I haven't changed in 2 years.

I recently noticed that my CPU fan would start running at full speed out of the blue. Upon checking HWMonitor I could see the temperature of all the CPU Cores hitting around 80℃. I tried changing/using different CPU fan settings in the Bios but that didn't change anything. I noticed that this would also sometimes happen as soon as I started the computer and even before it went into clover boot. So I am guessing it's purely a hardware issue?

After a minute or so the fan slows down and CPU drops again to normal of about 28 ℃.

Does anyone know what the problem could be? Thanks

Start by checking / renewing the thermal paste between the CPU and the heatsink.

Renewing ok but what do you mean by checking?
I mean to check the state of it and then renew it if required although renewing it is a good idea anyway.
