At boot I typed AtiConfig=Bulrushes
Ok - nearly there!!
1. 1st thing to check might be to see if you have inadvertently added an injector kext which may be why ATY_init is finding your card and quitting... We have been checking installed kexts when you have selected your other FrameBuffer, but not when you have Bulrushes. So final check - have a look at the Kexts in S/L/E - if you have something like ATI48xxInjector.kext installed, move to trash, run MB Utilities to repair permissions etc as well.
2. 2nd thing to check is run Multibeast and under Drivers / Graphics any of the Graphics options have "skip" written next to them, then you have definitely installed one of these and they must go!!
2a You'll have to replace the ATI4800Controller and ATIRadeonX2000 in S/L/E if you have installed the ATI 48xx Patch (I think!! - maybe from the unibeast usb ????) Don't forget to repair permissions again with MB system utilities.
2b If you have installed the 48xx Device Injector, you've fixed that in step 1 above!!
2c - given your familiarity with OSX , I'm going to assume you didn't install the NVIDIA patches!!
3. At Boot, and this is really important for the testing, you need to type "AtiConfig=Bulrushes AtiPorts=4" because Bulrushes sets AtiPorts to 0 as cards default - go figure.
4. if 3. above still ends up with a hang, then type this at boot -
"AtiConfig=Bulrushes AtiPorts=4 GraphicsMode=XxYx32" , where X and Y are the resolution of your 1st monitor!
5. If that doesn't work, don't forget to throw a "-v" into the boot flags you type and show us a screen shot.
For future reference of those that follow on in a years time, when you type -v at boot, the system records it in a log which you can show with"sudo dmesg" ( as opposed to bdmesg which is just the Chaemeleon BootLoader log). dmesg shows what happens in the Kernel Load. You can also see it in the Console.app under Files / kernel.log.
6. hopefully Step 5 is adding those lines to your org.chameleon.boot.plist, and editing the original topic to SOLVED and we hear the internet forum equivalent of popping champagne corks, or twist top beer being opened, or lemonade or whatever tipple you celebrate with!
I look forward to hearing about your adventures tomorrow.
