Hi.

What is the best way to fully reinstall my Win 10 (which has problems) on a dual boot Win10/El Capitan with Clover, without messing up with the osx and the dual boot?

Thanks a lot for any help.

Assuming you are native EFI booting and not legacy, a good start would be to to ensure you have Clover as a boot option in your firmware's boot menu. You can use...
  • efibootmgr (Linux)
  • EasyUEFI (Windows, version 2.7 is free)
The path to Clover on the ESP is \EFI\CLOVER\CLOVERX64.EFI

Windows may use an existing EFI partition (one with an 'EFI' folder in the root) rather than creating a new one on every disk, if you are installing on a separate disk and don't want to use one EFI partition for both OSs, de-activate the SATA port of the macOS drive during Windows installation so as to discourage that behaviour.

Thanks @vulgo.

So you're saying to do a backup of the EFI, format the Windows partition, install Windows and select that partition to install and after the install restore the EFI? (it's the same disk)

BTW, EasyUEFI is no longer free.

Your firmware's boot menu will need options for both OSs otherwise there is no guarantee you will be able to boot anything other than Windows, which does create a load option when you install it (as it is supposed to).

The problem is Clover does not create an option when you install it, you must do it yourself. The boot menu resides in NVRAM not the EFI partition.

EasyUEFI 2.7 is free, use google to search for that version.
