Please keep in mind that this is my first build:

Gigabyte Z87x-ud3h mobo
3.59ghz intel core i5
16gb 1333 MHz DDR3 RAM
Recording directly to; playing back from a Lacie Rugged 1TB USB 3.0 external drive through a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2
System drive (Where ProTools is installed) is a Samsung 128gb SSD

I'm using Pro Tools 11.3.1 on Yosemite 10.10.3. I can't even have a session open with more than 8 tracks, 2 plug-ins running, and one track recording under 512 buffer rate. Is anyone else having this problem? If you aren't, and have a similar build, what are your BIOS and Multibeast settings?? This has been driving me crazy! Is it a 64bit issue? Is it something I've overlooked?

Any advice is greatly appreciated... THANK YOU :)

I may have forgot to specify: CPU gets taxed too much, stops playback, giving me the dreaded error message.. after hitting OK, the performance of the DAW is slow and sluggish. System Usage window will tack up to CPU 100% sporadically, even if playhead isn't moving.

I am also new in this community, and would like to follow this thread as wel.

Is your CPU only hitting so high in Pro Tools ?
