Pick me a new processor

So I have a build about two years old I'd say, and it's time to update the processor. Socket LGA1156 on Gigabyte H55m-USB3 rev 2 board.

Looking on newegg, theres 7 processors for this socket for sale, and none are i7. What happened? I wanted to wait for prices to drop, did I wait too long? Has everyone really left 1156 behind? It was so good to us. Sigh.

Will this do?

Maybe I'll update the graphics card instead.

1156, isn't gone but 1155 was such an improvement that people jumped on it. I am still using a Xeon 3440. It's an i7 just lower power usage and better for OCing. Even though I haven't OCed it in a while.

Anyway, that processor your looking at is fine. Try looking at some Xeon 3440, 50, 60, 70, and 3480 models as well. They are great processors and will serve you well. Plus, the prices are sometimes super low on a new CPU.

Also, why change the video card?
