At the top left hand corner of your screen there is an apple symbol.
Click the apple and choose About This Mac from the dropdown menu.

Click System Report and you will be in System Information.

In the left hand pane you should see Software (hint: you may have to scroll down to find it).

Highlight Software and in the right hand pane you will see System Version:
followed by your OS X 10 version and your build number in brackets.

I downloaded and install the NVIDIA driver for the build that I have and click restart and its still causing the same issue of being stuck half way

Once you have installed the web drivers you should boot with nvda_drv=1

i type in "nvda_drv=1" at the boot menu once it restarted and still nothing. I get the grey screen with the apple and it stops half way on the progression bar

Add -v to your boot flags to see what is causing the problem - Verbose mode.
