worked for me 1st time after a few days of trying more complicated fixes. thank you very much

Hi everybody

I have installed OS X Yosemite (UniBeast 5.0.1 - Fresh install) Everything worked fine, just sound didn't work. It took me a while to find the right solution.

My Hardware:
Gigabyte GA-Z77-DS3H Socket 1155 VGA DVI HDMI 7.1 Channel Audio ATX Motherboard
Intel Core i5-3570K CPU
Corsair 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1600MHz Low Profile Vengeance Memory
SAPPHIRE Vapor-X 100283VXL Radeon HD 5770 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16
Samsung 840 Pro 2.5" 256GB SATA III Solid State Drive

Here is what I did

After OS X Yosemite fresh install, run MultiBeast - Yosemite 7.0.1
Select
Quick Start > DSDT Free
Drivers > Realtec ALCxxx > ALC887/888b Current v100302
Then choose other options for your hardware (see my Multibeast configuration)

After Multibeast finished installation , open disk utility and repair disk permissions.
Restart and open sound preferences, select the right device for sound output.

After I have done all of that, my sound worked. The only problem I had was no sound after sleep.

Fix: Run MultiBeast - Mavericks 6.1.0 or 6.2.1
Select
Drivers > Realtec ALCxxx > Without DSDT > ALC887/888b Current v100302

Restart and now everything works. Sound after sleep works

Hope this help.

Thanks, it really worked for me. A small query, how to get your mic working. Can you confirm that your mic is working. Thanks

Up to the moment everything works find (including audio after wake up from sleep).

Thanks!!!

Yes, but what abnout after sleep? My sound works great until the computer puts itself to sleep -- on wake up, no sound at all; restart, sound works again, sleep -- no sound. Anyone tried this. And don't force sleep from the Apple menu, let the machine put itself to sleep -- shorten the sleep time in energy saver....

Have you done this?

Good stuff- worked for me with mbeast 6.1.0 & Realtec ALCxxx > Without DSDT > ALC887/888b Current v100302.. Selected output to "internal speakers" and good to go, even after sleep. Got iPhoto to update too finally- so all good- thanks man!

fantastic, fixed for me as well with Multibeast 6.1.0

i UPDATED to Yosemite (i.e. not a fresh install) and ran Multibeast 7.0,

deleted HDA Enabler and Realtek8xx,

emptied trash

ran Multibeast 7

reboot

run Multicast 6.1.0 Without DSDT Realtek ALC887b Current

reboot

choose internal speakers

worked!

thank you so much, i haven't had working audio since Mavericks.....

If it doesn't work, open sound preferences & check if the right device for sound output is selected.

Hope this help.

UPDATE ::::::::

I have now SOUND OVER HDMI to my Toshiba TV. I didn't have HDMI sound in Mavericks. I didn't do anything. Just one thing is different the HDMI cable. I have bought ""Premium HDMI Cable, High Speed 1.4a Version, Gold Plated Full HD 1080P, 2160p, 2Kx4K/30hz (ultra HD)"" (eBay 3m for £6)

It works for ALC898?
