Hi toleda,
First of all, thanks for the great effort made to bring this method!!!!

Need your expertise to analyze my problem with front Mic (Pink):
MB: H61N-USB3 (Onboard sound chipset: ALC 889)
OS: Lion 10.7.3
CPU: i5 2500K

Followed the steps of installation from "Read Me first" but skipped step #5, which left dsdt w/HDEF/Layout-id unchanged as 0x79 0x03 0x00 0x00 - Don't want to use HDMI audio output

In System Preferences/Sound/Input, Internal Microphone does change to Line In when I plug in my mic

But for some reason the front mic just doesn't work for me. Any idea?

Try the troubleshooting tip in Read_Me_First.

Well ... thanks. But actually I tried the troubleshooting tips already ...
I don't want to config 5.1 so I bypassed those optional steps.
Adjusted the input/output volumes. Restarted couple of times.
Checked the kexts installed:

Aarons-Mac-Pro:~ liaaron1$ cd /System/Library/Extensions/

Aarons-Mac-Pro:Extensions liaaron1$ ls -F | grep AL
ALF.kext/

Aarons-Mac-Pro:Extensions liaaron1$ ls -F | grep 8xx
Aarons-Mac-Pro:Extensions liaaron1$

Aarons-Mac-Pro:Extensions liaaron1$ ls -F | grep HDA
AppleHDA.kext/

Tried everything to my knowledge, but still cannot figure it out why front mic doesn't work for me

You decided not to try the tip that might help. Does front mic work in Windows or Linux, perhaps a case problem? I don't have any other suggestions.

Does anyone have any ideas? I really don't want to have to reinstall everything on my main drive.

Ok, I'm attaching the file. I opened IOREG and just chose save a copy as. I don't know if I did it right.

There is a problem with HDEF/layout_id. Attach dsdt.

Ok, I'm attaching the DSDT. But FYI The same DSDT works on a brand new, "non upgraded" installation.

The layout_id is not correct.
edit dsdt/HDEF

                             "layout-id", 
                            Buffer (0x04)
                            {
                                0x79, 0x03, 0x00, 0x00
                            },

Reply with new IOReg.

i just updated to 10.7.3. I cant get audio working

i tried steps mentioned, unless im doing something wrong? Please help.
