OOB installation from Retail DVD

I saw a guy in one of the forums here in Israel advertising a "MacPro-Compatible PC" which (and I quote) "Is *not* a Hackintosh but runs the original Apple OS" etc.

I find it somehow doubtful - has ANYONE here EVER installed SL off the retail DVD without using iBoot or Multibeast or ANYTHING else and have it work OOB just like that?

Probably it has some sort of EFI-X style device, that what i saw in a number of mac clones.

I read terrible user comments about the EFI-x devices a year ago. Cheaper to just build a Hackintosh and once you sort out how to do it, it's a cinch.

The original EFI-X is indeed terrible, but the ones i've seen are custom made for specific hardware. Looks like just a locked flash drive with EFI partition that set as 1'st boot device, allows you to boot and install from retail DVD without any post-installation procedures. The advantages and disadvantages of this method are pretty obvious.
