Thanks Going Bald. I have tried that boot flag when at the Chimera boot screen, as was suggested in other posts but it doesn't seem to work. The boot progress stops at the white apple logo screen. Any other methods?

Am I able to extract the boot file from iBoot, update it and then boot from the altered image?

when trouble shooting always boot with -v so you can see what is happening - "progress stops at the white apple logo screen" is worthless and tells nothing.

OK, I figured out what was wrong - I didn't have FakeSMC installed in S/L/E on my hard drive. Got it working! Booted with "arch=x86_64 -f -v".

On to Yosemite!!

Thanks for the assistance!
