ANYWAY, one tip... if YOU or an APP ever change resolution and you don't want to hard reset your system... my resolution seems to properly switch *IF* I put the computer to sleep, then wake it (both using the system power button)..

I got a DVI to VGA adapter and using DVI seems to have fixed the resolution changing issue. The adapter I am using is the one from Apple here. You can get similar adapters much cheaper from Monoprice though, I am using this one because we have a bunch of them that we don't use at work.

THANKS! switching back to DVI-->VGA instead of VGA-->VGA does seem to fix my problem of screen locking up when trying to change resolutions!

CALIBRATE features seem to work as well! It had no affect previously.

wish I could use DVI to HDMI, but I may be able to live with this. after fixing my loud power supply, and figuring out how to move my iphoto and itunes libraries to a secondary drive, I may be able to relax and enjoy!
