Although you are on UEFI and Gigabyte's UEFI is very OS X friendly, you might try to create a DSDT for yourself using PJALM's DSDT patches.

You should also include his Graphics edit which is separate. I recently started getting weird sleep/wake results and installing a DSDT seemed to smooth things out. In fact my UP5-TH goes into sleep state like a minute or two after the displays go into standby, this wasn't the case before. It would take about 10 minutes for my system to enter a sleep state.

Thank you so much. I removed all my usb peripherals and connected them to USB 2.0 ports instead of 3.0 and it seems to work so far. If the issues still persists later on i'll resort to this.
