No Audio Devices - Realtek ALC AppleHDA [Guide]

Not open for further replies.
Hi Toleda...

Tried to give you detail below. The forum upload would not allow certain file types so I added them all to a zip.

Long story short... Did everything I was supposed to do, no audio codec present at all.

Thanks!

  1. Description of audio problem
    1. No audio on system despite MultiBeast injection of ALC1150. No output option available in System Preferences Audio pane. Toleda audio scanning tools can't find codec. DPCI confirms no codec.
  2. Specs
    1. OS X version 10.11.5
    2. GigaByte Z170-UD5 with BIOS version - F5/
    3. Intel Core i7 6700K 4.00 GHz 8M Processor Cache 4 LGA 1151 BX80662176700K
    4. EVGA GTX 950 with NVIDIA Web Drivers Enabled (running dual monitor system)
  3. Procedure/Guide Used (Realtek ALC AppleHDA, Post #1)
    1. MultiBeast/Audio Selections
      1. Multiple attempts... All using ALC1150 + 1 add-on driver sets. Sets attempted include: Optional 3 Port 5.1 Audio, Optional HD 3000, Optional HD 4000, 100 Series Audio
    2. Terminal
      1. Did not run Terminal for initial install. Not familiar. Didn't want to mess it up.
  4. Audio/ALC Injection (Tools 3.)
    1. Attached.
  5. Copy of IOReg
    1. verify file (no ioreg.txt) - ATTACHED - not sure what you meant by verify. Left it with IOReg extension.
  6. System/Library/Extensions/AppleHDA.kext
    1. Not present (hidden files unhidden via Terminal: defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles YES and relaunch of finder)
  7. System/Library/Extensions/AppleHDAxxx.kext (if installed) -
    1. NOT PRESENT
  8. Console/All Messages/kernel Sound Assertions
    1. Search for "kernel" and "sound" nothing... Search for only "assertions" seemed to yield messages not related to sound. Included anyway.
  9. Screen shots:
    1. DPCIManager/Status - Attached
    2. System Info - Attached

NOT PRESENT
No AppleHDA.kext, clean install required. Reply with new files.
realtekALC not recommend for Clover bootloader, use MultiBeat or cloverALC
Why did you run cloverHDMI?
Where did you get SSDT-HDEF+-1.aml? Remove.

clean install required
Is there no other way? :( Can I at least copy and paste my current config.plist to the new install to save me a lot of time on all the custom edits and tweaks on the clean install?

How does that AppleHDA end up missing? Did I screw something up?

realtekALC not recommend for Clover bootloader, use MultiBeat or cloverALC

Thanks. Will not use.

Why did you run cloverHDMI?
I'm a newbie. It was a desperate attempt to try to get it working.

Where did you get SSDT-HDEF+-1.aml? Remove.
Don't quite remember. Yet another desperate attempt.

No idea. Likely.
See Post#1, Realtek ALC AppleHDA Installation/Native AppleHDA

I did screw up... I looked in the wrong folder the first time.

Turns out AppleHDA.kext IS in: System/Library/Extensions/AppleHDA.kext
It is NOT in: Library/Extensions/

However, there are other kext files in Library/Extensions, which is why I got confused. Sorry.

Included screen shot with directories at the bottom to verify.

Sorry for screw up.

Any thoughts on how to fix, or am I still looking at a clean install?

Used MultiBeast to add 100 Series Hi Def Audio...

AudioCodecDetect still yields: No Audio Codec Detected

Proceeded anyway to run audio_cloverALC-110.command. Also yielded: No Audio Codec Detected

Toleda,

I am installing audio on my GA-Z170X-UD5. So far I have run Multibeast 8.2.3 and successfully installed ALC1150 and 100 Series Audio.

Following the Audio [Guide}, I believe I now need to take three steps (please correct me if I am wrong):
A. Disable SIP
B. Make the config.plist change :config.plist/RtVariables/CsrActiveConfig/Ox3”
C. Install Realtek ALC.

Question #1:
I am a complete Clover novice—Can I use Clover Configurator (Version 4.30.1), Select Rt Variables, and then go to the CsrActiveConfig box in the upper right of the screen and input Ox3? Save and reboot?

Question 2#:
I believe the next (and final) step is to Install Realtek ALC. I have downloaded the WebDriver-349.03.10f02.pkg from “Audio codec/ALC Injection? audio_codecdetect.command.zip (Select View Raw, double click)”.
I don’t want to open the installer and start making changes if I am on the wrong path. Is my next step to open and run the installer? Will the selections/choices be obvious once I am working with the installer? Is that the final step?

Thank you very much! Jim
