My Main G5 Hackintosh - I also have a server G5
I have gotten quite good at building these. They are really easy, once you know what to buy.
** The only reason you see the white fan is cause the flash brings it out in the pictures ** but under normal light, you can't see the white fan in the front. ** Edit, you will see the fan but with it spinning it blends right in and is hardly noticeable, the flash just made it pop. **
There's a square cut out of the bottom where the power supply sits so that it can vent air outside the case. The power supply fan sits over the square cutout on the bottom and it's a perfect fit for the power supply fan.
The back of the case I used Lowes self sticking weather strips, they make two colors, Brown and White. I bought the white and painted them using Micheals Arts and Crafts Krylon Short Cuts Hobby Paint KSCS032 SCS-032 Chrome. It is as close a match to the G5 Case as you will find. Here it is listed at Amazon, same price.

To make the cuts, I bought this Harbor Freight Cutting Tool and a really thin blade from Lowes. The blade it comes with is thick, you want a thin blade.
Cutting Tool http://www.harborfreight.com/120-volt-3-high-speed-cut-off-tool-68523.html P.S you can get this for around 17 dollars, they are always running sales, and there is a 20% coupon on there site if you search for it.
*** Read the reviews on this tool, they are pretty accurate, it does trip the circuit a lot, and the one I had the motor did start to spark, I took it back because I had it less then a month and it did this after two jobs. So, if you are looking for a long lasting tool I would say it's a gamble. Get the warranty and you will be alright. It worked for me ***
I was able to make the cuts I needed pretty fast with that tool, don't bother with a dremel, too time consuming. I cut the back square out for the cables, I cut the square at the bottom for the power supply venting and I cut the top panel where the motherboard goes after removing it. Then put it back in.
As far as mounting the motherboard. Just take a pair of pliers and pop off the original G5 Power Mac studs, attach them to your motherboard. Then put a little JB Well you can get that at lowes or home depot on the back of the studs. Set the board inside with the JB Well on the tips.
JB Weld http://www.amazon.com/Weld-8265S-Compound-Epoxy-Twin/dp/B0006O1ICE
Then I removed the board again, I used this to mark where the studs would fall then I put little puddles of JB Well where the studs of JB Well marked it. Then put the board back in. Make sure you put your Graphics card in so you know where to line everything up. Let it sit over night giving the JB Well time to set up and bingo, your golden. It will not matter about the puddles they are underneath the board and never seen. Much more secure. You can also use JB Well to secure the hard drive cage under where the DVD Player goes.
Here is the Fan I used, They make two versions of it. One Blows a lot more air but it is much louder then the Silent one. I have the louder one in my server and the more silent one in this hack. The great thing about these fans is they fit perfectly in the front of the G5 Case. Really Snug.
Silent Fan Blows Less Air but Less Noise http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835146004
Louder Fan Blows More Air but Louder Noise http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835146003
One last thing, I see people putting in there own motherboard trays and they look great! However, for me, spending the 40 to 50 on the tray just seemed high when I can put the stripping on the back for like 5 bucks and works good. Plus, the case is full of holes, it's not like the dust is going to stay out with a motherboard tray. I spent the money on getting the cable harness from Aloha Cab so the front USB and firewire and Power Button plus Apple White Light worked . It's really good, bought two from him, one for the Hack and one for the server.
Front USB, FIREWIRE, STEREO, POWER BUTTON, LIGHT cable harness.
