Hi guys

I just wanted to let you know I tried the latest MultiBeast 4.3 with 10.7.3 Combo OpenCL Enabler on GTX-470

System wouldn't boot after update.

I am running Lion 10.7.3, with Chimera 1.8 and have done the latest nVidia updates for the card, (Retail_270.00.00f01)

The card worked before the 10.7.3 Combo OpenCL update but wouldn't boot after so I used Retail_270.00.00f01 to rollback and now it's up and running again.

Maybe the patch isn't meant for the GTX-470. I thought it was, based on what I read here:
viewtopic.php?f=15&t=52086

Give me a slap and push in the right direction if I missed something.

Thanks.

Re: MultiBeast 4.3 Update - 10.7.3 Combo OpenCL Enabler -no boot

The same sort of thing happened me. I could boot just fine but the only screen resolution available was 1024x768 and no QE/CI . My custom edited AppleGraphicsPowerManagement.kext no longer did it's job. I restored the newly patched kexts to the previous versions and everything squared itself away.

Re: MultiBeast 4.3 Update - 10.7.3 Combo OpenCL Enabler -no boot

This patch is NOT for the older NVIDIA drivers version 270.00.00f01. It is only for the drivers that Apple ships in 10.7.3 which are newer, version 270.05.20f02. I've added the following to the MultiBeast 4.3.0 announcement:

NOTE: This is ONLY for the Apple released driver, not for the NVIDIA downloaded version.

FYI, I found that the older NVIDIA drivers produced lower benchmark scores in my testing on a clean 10.7.3 install than the Apple version. Other than it supporting the GTX 560 / 570 / 580 without patching the Apple kexts to add the missing device IDs, I can't find any reason to recommend them.

I have run MultiBeast 4.3 on my 10.7.3 test drive and now my Gigabyte GTX 550ti gets 1280x1024 resolution  .I´ve tryed the Graphics Mode 1920x1080x32@60Mhz line and nothing. To be honest don´t know wich way to go. Any help will be fully appreciated!!!

I'm not really sure what there is do do other than undo the patches. It looks like I didn't read the fine print, and was trying to use it with the wrong set of Nvidia drivers. I used time machine to restore the NVDAGF100Hal.kext and the GeForceGLDriver.bundle. I then dragged them to the desktop, deleted the versions in S/L/E, and used kextbeast to reinstall. Ran multibeast system utilities as a precaution, and rebooted. Everything was set back to the previous functional state.

Re: MultiBeast 4.3 Update - 10.7.3 Combo OpenCL Enabler -no boot

Thanks MacMan. I didn't realize the nVidia drivers were older than the 10.7.3 drivers. Thanks for clearing that up.

r.

In closing:

I used the 10.7.3 combo update to get the correct drivers in place and then ran 10.7.3 Combo OpenCL Enabler from MultiBeast

Rebooted, swapped back in the GTX-470 and Bob's your Uncle.
OceanWaves=380fps

Thanks again MacMan

Can you give some detail about driver location in the combo update?

Thanks

Never mind... I need to read before posting

EDIT: After finally following the original post
Here are my results for a PNY Nvidia GTS 450. While it is a "neutered" FERMI chip, at least it's working
