I have a problem that I haven't actually found a solution for yet:
- my Macbook Pro 2015 (13" i7) has a broken charging IC.
- I'm charging the battery directly (external charger), have added a LEMO plug to the chassis and have been using it like that for a few years now.
The problem: Reinstalling macOS, or running a system update requires the charger to be plugged in.
As my IC is broken, charging the battery doesn't tell the system that a charger is connected - the capacity just stops dropping and seems to go up.
Is there any way to fool the system into thinking a charger is permanently attached? That way I'd never have the updating issue - only problem is, the fix should ideally also work in the recovery state...
A hardware fix may actually be easier than a software fix...
