Maximus V Gene, HD4000, Snow Leopard.

Ive just ordered a maximus v gene and im thinking of getting an i7-3770k, 8gb ram, 128gb ssd

will there be any problem with putting snow leopard (since this is ivy bridge ) on the system?

Yes. Snow leopard does not have Ivy Bridge support.

Oh btw, how is preformance on the i5? just thinking of going for one instead of an i7?
